The Hidden Island

Sitting on the plane waiting for hours and hours to arrive at our destination, we fly over the South Pacific ocean, now that the cabin lights have been dimmed everyone is resting. Mimi had enjoyed a full dinner; She chose chicken, mash potatoes and vegetables, she loves carrots and peas. It’s a full plane and she tucks herself in under her blanket then a few hours later, the plane drops in the air, she woke up and she’s alone on the plane except for some animals. Mimi is curious to know what has happened and where did everyone go, why are all these animals here?

There was a llama, a kangaroo, a goanna, a macaw and you name it, every animal you could think of, right here in front of her. How? Why? Where are all the people she wondered. How did this even happen? Mimi unclicked her seatbelt and headed for the nearest window but now a capuchin monkey is blocking her view from the window, it looks at her, and she looks at it. “Hello” Mimi began, and now to her surprise the animal with a long tail said, hello back, “if you would like to look outside the window”, the animal began talking, “All you had to do was ask”.

Mimi is standing there stunned, a monkey is talking to her, she wasn’t sure how to take this, she always wanted a talking monkey, but now there is one right in front of her. “So” she asked the monkey, “where are all the people?” to which the monkey replied, “We have been here all the time”, she thought to herself, she thought to herself when we boarded the plane and saw only humans, now it’s all animals. “This is how we got on the plane”, a tall animal with four legs walked down the aisle and was carrying something in its mouth. It was a giraffe who had what appeared to be a human suit. “We pretended to dress up like humans so we could get on board,” the giraffe said.

“Why would you do that? And where are we going?” she enquired, “We are going to Mysterious Island” said the giraffe, who then said, “I’m Albert ''. “Hi Albert, I’m Mimi,” she replied. Mimi had long wavy black hair with freckles, her skin was fair, and she was wearing a polka-dotted purple onesie. Behind Albert an animal was creeping up behind him, this animal didn’t have legs, it just glided along the aisle and went under Albert between his legs, Mimi thought it was going to him. It moved quickly and straightened up and looked directly at Mimi. It had three lines on it and was wearing a shirt with lines on the shoulders. Mimi soon realised that he was the captain, but she was still somewhat scared, as this animal was a great big anaconda. “H-hello Mimi'' the snake hissed, “I am Captain Kaa, how are you”, Mimi began “Ah *laughs* Hi Captain Kaa er- hi” Mimi was still in shock as this anaconda was very long. “We are taking you on an adventure Mimi,” said Captain Kaa.

Mimi was still trying to figure out how these animals even managed to get past security check in, “How did you all get past security check in?” she asked curiously. “Oh, that’s easy” said the Macaw, “I just entertain everyone and humans like talking birds, but they don’t know that everyone is dressed in a human suit, even Stephano the elephant here used these slimmers, to slim himself into the suit.” “Wow”! said Mimi, she was so amazed at what she had been told, just then the plane dropped in the air, “Quick! Get in your seats and put your seatbelts on” yelled Captain Kaa who slithering fast down the aisle back to the front of the airplane. “What’s happening?” said Mimi, “It must be Sammy, he’s such a big dolphin, he must have pushed something, he’s our vice-captain of the plane, we tell him all the time to mind his flippers, and to watch what he touches but he can’t help it”. Said Macaw.

Suddenly, the captain’s announcement came on, “This is Captain Kaa speaking, we ask everyone to put on their life jackets, we will now be diving into the ocean”. “Diving into the ocean!” exclaimed Mimi, “Don’t worry dear”, said this elderly lady sheep in the seat behind, “Captain Kaa has done this many times, he knows what he is doing”, “But won’t the plane break if we dive into the ocean?” Mimi said, worrying about the plane crashing, “Oh no dear”, continued the elderly sheep, “this is not just any plane, it’s a plane that senses water and changes into a big submarine when it senses being close to the water”.

The plane kept dropping and dropping at a rapid speed, Mimi wasn’t sure how this was going to work out and how this plane was going to transform, she had read about planes crashing into the ocean and ended up never being found. The plane kept dropping and dropping, and then it felt as if it tilted to a steep angle, she looked out the window and could see the plane plunging into the ocean. It was getting closer and closer to the ocean, and then in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 *splash* into the ocean it went. Mimi had closed her eyes because she was afraid the plane was going to break. She opened one eye and then the other, she noticed she was now under water, the inside of the plane still looked the same though, but in the window she saw fish swimming by and some even waving to her. Then all of a sudden it became black, Mimi had thought to herself they were now being eaten by something. What was it? What was happening to the plane or was it now an underwater boat?

But that’s another story to be told...
