Under Her Art Studio
Amayelynn woke to a cold, empty bed, noting immediately that the light filtering in through the blinds was too bright and too yellow. It was the kind of too-bright yellow that indicated at least an hour past the time her alarm was set for; an hour late. She jumped out of bed, feeling her heart stutter at her sudden upright position. She scrambled to climb into whatever clothing articles her hands first found in the closet, while running through which items of her morning routine could be postponed or skipped altogether. Brushing teeth and showering could wait until the kids were off to school. They would have to eat breakfast, though. It would be a cereal kind of morning.

Advice from a Cactus
I was lost in the desert. I was thirsty. I just finished my last sip of water. I tried to drink the water from a cactus. “Don’t drink my flesh,” it said. “What? Am I hallucinating?” I asked. “No, I can talk. Your tired from your walk. You need to rest, my friend. Help, people will send. Sit under my shade and you’ll be made,” Cactus said. “I hope you’re right, I’m almost dead,” I said. I was about to pass out when I saw a rescue vehicle approaching. I jumped in front of it and it ran me over.

Double Secret
Secrets are all around. Little white lies, small fibs or surprise parties. Secrets can be good or bad. When they are good it ends with a smile. When they are bad it ends with a life being changed. Some secrets are unavoidable while some are choices being made. Some secrets though are so big and bad that drastic measures need to be taken once they come to light.
