Will You Stay With Me When I Collapse?
This is an excerpt from my newest novel, Moonchildren. Click here to read more. _____________________________________ They say if you love someone, you should let them go. But nobody ever talks about what happens if they don’t come back. When Ivo was younger, he played sports like hockey and soccer with a small group of neighborhood kids. But he was an angry and insolent child, and after a while, none of the other kids wanted to play with him. Rio makes him feel safe, and no one else ever has. That’s the scary part, though. Getting close to people means they can leave, and it will hurt, and you can scream and beg them not to go, and it won’t make a difference.

The Last Piece Of Him
I don't want to replace them. I stare at the boots, more brown than black from the layers of sun baked mud. The cracks I've tried to hide are like wrinkles, baring the truth of their age for everyone to see. The only thing new on the shoes are the laces, a poor attempt at trying to extend my time with the boots. Already, they are already dusty from the fields today, much like the white socks I wore on my feet.

I woke up shivering on the floor, clothes still completely soaked through. However, when I come to, I realize Alice is no longer by my side.

The Seventeenth Summer (Ch 17)
Chapter Seventeen Apart from the opening of presents, one of the usual rituals of Christmas mornings in the Anderson household was for all the relatives to be called on the phone, or for them to call, in order to pass on Christmas greetings and catch up on everything that had been going on in each other’s lives. This year wasn’t any different with a procession of grand-parents, aunts, uncles and cousins all putting in an appearance while the phone was passed around all of the members of Danny’s family.

The Sickening
When Dad saw the dragonling on the kitchen table, he did a double-take. I didn't think people did those in real life. Took his glasses off, cleaned them, put them back on. The whole bit. Got close, drinking in every scale. His eyes, already huge behind his glasses, looked even bigger.
