World in Tatters Ch1. Content Warning.
“Hey, Rach!” I shout as we unload our gear from the horses into the little grey house. “I’m right here, you don’t have to yell.” I hadn’t even seen her as she circled around behind me. She’d learned to be a lot quieter on her feet. The results of training and a hell of a lot of practice in the woods.

Tears of redemption
Quite a long time ago in a modest community that could equal the appeal of any sitcom, there carried on with a man-kid named Jerry. Jerry was what you could call an adult blockhead. He wore confounded socks, had an inclination for horrendous plays on words, and would never oppose a messy father joke. His life was an unending stream of flummoxes, misjudged zingers, and unplanned incidents. Yet, in the midst of all the chuckling he caused, Jerry was likewise on a mission for something more profound — a journey for recovery.

The Music In My Head
I listened to my unbearably torn Saddle shoes click on the sidewalk. Click. Click. Click. A crimson morning sky, bleeding with the promise of a new day, showered above my head. I hummed to myself, a spontaneous rhythm I didn’t necessarily know. And then as if someone had whispered gently into my ear, I heard the lyrics. Words and notes sewn together on music score in my mind. Abruptly, I stopped myself and dug through my old worn leather purse. Paper. I needed paper, and a pen. I always seemed to carry both somewhere on my person.

A Fate that Burns
“I’m hungry.” “Me too.” “Are we there yet?” “Can we stop at the next gas station? I have to pee.” It seemed mid-day had arrived with its usual fanfare as the Gladwell’s car continued to roll down the one-lane highway. Its brown wooden exterior absorbing the sweltering heat, as sweat broke out on its passenger’s skin like drops of morning dew. Long stretches of road opened up, the wind dancing amongst the heat waves, melding together in perfect tango.

The Catalyst: Chapter Two
Amber Franklin (also known as Little Bit) was seven years old, with honey blond hair that hung in two loose pigtails that fell to her shoulders and were tied with turquoise ribbons. Her soft brown eyes were speckled with yellow flakes, and she had a little button nose and pouty lips in the shape of a bow. There was a dimple in the middle of her chin, and her two front teeth were missing where she had lost them, the permanent ones having not grown in yet. She had a habit of sticking her tongue through the gap that the missing teeth made when she was concentrating hard on something.
