Short Story
you never know who you'll see at the gas station.. Content Warning.
I don't have many, but there are days where I open my eyes, and want to call in sick to the world. And right now, sitting here on a dingy 7-11 floor at 10pm after an already long day, I'm really wishing I had.

Heavy is the Head
The overall wrestling world was still buzzing over the events that took place at Queens of Havoc's 30th anniversary event. The roster truly delivered; stellar matches, big title victories, but the main story involved the promotion's newest threat: a sinister faction known as the Royal Flush Renegades.

Hide and Seek. Top Story - May 2026.
Aryn arrived on time to her babysitting appointment at the Charles house. The day had been exceedingly average until this point. The weather had been nice, a clear, warm day. School had been unremarkable, which suited Aryn fine. Predictable monotony was always preferable to locker room teasing or finding maxi-pads stuck to her desk. She expected the evening to be uneventful, too. While 6-year-olds are full of energy and sometimes surprises, Willow was an only child. Sitting for one kid generally meant a controlled kind of chaos.

Dandelions. Runner-Up in The Unhappy Ending Challenge. Content Warning.
Hansen leaned against the side of his truck, still in his cop uniform, soda sweating in his hand. Dandelions shook their seeds in the evening wind along the edge of the lot, and he watched them drift, thinking about how small things lasted and how most things didn’t. His second toe throbbed faintly, arthritis maybe, and he knew it wasn’t going to get better.

Too Late to Step In. Content Warning.
To be aware that no soul on this earth gives a fuck whether you live or die. To scream for attention and hear only the rustling of the wind. To cast about for a kindred spirit, only to realize that all the spirit in the world is dead. These are the things that can drive a man to suicide. And that’s pretty much where I’m at right now.

The Haunting Cypress:
The bell rings shrilly and loudly through the halls of Idyllwild High signaling our release from this teenage-rage-fueled asylum. I weave my way around idiots shoving each other into lockers and just barely dodge the hooting-and-hollering football players pummeling through the halls. I open my locker, and a pile of muck covered leaves spills out of my locker and onto my boots. Roars of laughter echo all around me and a squirrely, high-pitched voice cuts through the noise from right behind me.

Dead End Hiking. Top Story - April 2026.
I told him I wasn’t in the mood. No, not that, you dirty-minded imbecile—just not in the mood for hiking. It had rained, so the trails would be muddy, with thunderstorms looming. I was tired from a busy work week and had not slept well. He insisted, badgering me, challenging me to a duel on the mountain, and, fool for him that I am, I finally agreed after hours of cajoling.

Red Flags
It's a relief when Rachel and the other girls decide they've stayed at happy hour too long. For almost 4 hours Hanna had listened to them tell her she should be dating more, not tying herself down to one guy so quickly, especially since her divorce from Jason isn't even final yet. Susan had even dared suggest that perhaps Scott, newly sober as he was, wasn't the best choice for Hanna during this time in her life. "I'm just saying," Susan had sad softly, her voice trailing off, "you are in a bit of a party mode these days, now that you have your own place again. If I were in Scott's shoes, well, dating someone who is out drinking most nights a week would be a big red flag for me."
