A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes

The sun peeks through my blinds radiating brightness, its warmth tickling my skin in an effort to remind me it is indeed morning. Another dawn, another year around the Sun, another Monday and the start of another exhilarating work week. Feeling dreadfully parched unsure how I'll manage to nurse this hangover and survive another day at the office. My thoughts shift to last night's festivities but are suddenly interrupted by a voice.

You will reap as you sow
You will reap as you sow. When I was a 21-year-old female five years ago, I completed and passed my matriculation. I informed my mother that I would like to spend a few days with my aunt Noreen now that summer vacation was started. Yes, I do have a single aunt who resides in a Hasilpur village. I was born a few years ago, right before she got married. My aunt now has a 16-year-old son as well. My mother finally gave in to my stubbornness, so my brother went to drop me off to my aunt, who returned the same day after leaving me there. Upon seeing me at her house, my aunt was ecstatic.

Hank's Monster. Content Warning.
Warning: mentions of domestic abuse and the death of a loved one. Jagged pieces of color lay on the kitchen floor -- a plate from a dinner set gifted by his parents on our wedding day and drops of my blood. I can feel Hank clutching me close to him like a child with their raggedy toy, ready to lash out at any one who tries to take it from them. He keeps repeating a tearful mantra in my ears, sounding desperate for me to hear them.

Afterlife
Afterlife In just 60 seconds, my life changed forever. A decade later, the defining minute is still vividly imprinted in my memory. Some may mock as I share this story, even though some of those who laugh will be religious and have their own belief in their afterlife.

Lily
Lily looked out the window and sighed, dropping her embroidery. There was nothing truly interesting to do within the walls of her father’s castle. She glanced back at the door, and in a moment of unrestrained rage, she suddenly flung the sampler out the window. It spun out over the trees that crawled right up to the foot of her tower, and disappeared into the dark foliage. She wanted so badly to do the same.

Echoes of the Forgotten
In the sleepy town of Evergreen Valley, where the whispers of the past danced with the gentle rustle of leaves, there stood an old, dilapidated bookstore known as "The Forgotten Pages." Its weathered sign swung lazily in the breeze, its letters faded with age, hinting at the forgotten tales that lay within.
