Snowball Fight
He knew snow would be cold, but not that cold. Tom envisioned snow to be more like the white ice inside the freezer. His first time experiencing winter up north took him by surprise: his breath visible, wet socks, and layers of outerwear became more uncomfortable as the days wore on.

Dancing Shoes
On New Year’s Eve in 1965, her parents were most likely at a local dance club, socializing, drinking, and most importantly, dancing the night away. Her father was a Ricky Ricardo look-alike, and her mom, with her bouffant up-do and elegant cigarette holder in her hand, was a classic beauty. Later that month, stars still sparkling in their eyes, a baby girl was conceived. It was there, I believe, I found where I would dedicate my being.

A Wild Ride in Wyoming
It was a bright, cold morning and the weather report ensured that the short drive to work would be interesting. Overnight, high winds had pushed deep snow into massive drifts and filled roadside ditches, leaving them indiscernible in the vast expanse of white. Such was the cost of living and working far from “civilization” on the edge of Interstate 80 in Wyoming.

Who are the gray ones?

Benny's Loss. Top Story - February 2024.
Hey! Benny, look over here, you little idiot. I was so good when you ate apples; I never interrupted or distracted you. I kept quiet when you played softball with Ken, Terry, and all your friends. Do you remember when Terry punched you in the stomach, and you bent over in pain, biting your lip? I was there when you had to lick all those Valentine’s envelopes to hand out in your class. Eleanor, wasn’t that her name? The girl with braces you had a crush on and tried to kiss, but her braces scratched your lips? Oh, yes, Benny, I remember!

My cousin is awesome. I would say she's like a younger me, but glittering generalities in the genetics department only get you so far. She's kind of like me, but more like an alternate me who's taking other paths in life. My life has also been awesome so far, like hers, but... differently. Other paths in life, paths where I chose differently, paths where Life took me for a left-hand turn in Albuquerque.

The Art of Being Disposable
I’d been dropped by you before. Many times, in fact. I learned quickly that you’re rather clumsy. This time was different. The clamor I made against the car door and seat mechanism was drowned out by the bass of the song on the radio. You took no notice of my fall.

For the Faithful Be Fertile
Reverend Rhett Dream, pastor of the Church of Vas, addressed the Epididymites: "Yā-yä, my motile flock, I come from Seminifera with tidings from the Great Rigidity." He paused dramatically, then continued. "You asked me about the meaning of life. What's to come is a mystery--but have faith."

In the absence of light, I suppose darkness is my new ruler. I am beside myself but can’t presume my owner has the audacity to leave me here surrounded in this cesspool of filth. Doesn't she know I am royalty? I was forged on a pedestal and looked highly upon by jealous eyes wishing I could be theirs. I hope she has organized search efforts. Or at the absolute least, filed a missing possession report with the proper authorities.
