The Lightbearer’s Stone
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. When the frosts of winter fell across the branches and withered the flowers, when snow hid the thick, mossy clumps, building up in little peaks against the dormant tree trunks, the valley stood empty.

The Quest for the Silver Pharaoh
"Father, here is the research you requested, I hope it suits your needs.” “Thank you, Cameron, you can head back to the parish for the night, we can continue tomorrow.” Father MacGregor could barely see through his glasses. The dust from the documents Cameron brough him went airborne as the young page set them on the table with a bit less caution than MacGregor would have preferred.

The Hollow Beyond.
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Not that anyone remembered a time before them anymore. Except, perhaps, old Reya who was as ancient as the deep valley hillside she lived in. However, since she’d caught Goblin fever four summers before, her stories had become jumbled with tales of life in the valley before The Collision and merged with tales the fairyfolk shared of life beyond The Scar. So a life of dragons, was all we knew and except for the occasional stolen livestock, they were far less troublesome than many of the other creatures who had followed in those early days after The Scar appeared.

The Red Shadow
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Even she knew that much. Eliza’s only view of the world was a small window looking out from the sub-basement of the fortress. All others looked inward at the lush gardens and overflowing fountains. No one who called it home wanted a reminder of the waste that the outside world had become.

Daggers and Dragons
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Okay, well this time it was dragons, but it wasn’t always. Sometimes it was boggarts, or demons, or any other manner of creepy crawlies and unabashedly absurd monstrosities which were fit for the slaying, as Sir Reginald often said. Old man Kerna even swore that he saw a hairy beast with the face of a pig and the ass of a goddess somewhere up in the mountains, but Kerna was known to fancy a drink, so it was anybody’s guess as to what he really saw. No matter what manner of beast decided to stop over in the valleys however, all of the townsfolk rested assured that Sir Reginald and Sir Camdryn, the heroes of the land, would slay them. Excellent knights in their own right, together they were unstoppable. People across the land whispered stories of the Knights of Destiny, the two greatest men to ever live.

The Unknown Dark
"There weren't always dragons in the Valley. But they've always been in the mountains." The voice was quietly spoken but there was no doubting its authority, as a subdued hush descended on the Elders' meeting. How it had been heard over the hubbub of the dragon discussion was a mystery but heard by everyone it was. Bart, who was leading the meeting, was irritated that he had been interrupted, just as he was about to argue with Sampson about the ridiculous claim that he had seen a dragon.
