Chapter 1: The Whitamore
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley.” Clemson Johnson stated before taking a long, contemplative pull of his pipe. “But they live there now, right, Uncle Clem?” asked one of the children sitting around the fire curiously. “How did they get there if they used to live here?”

Along Came a Dragon
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. They usually stayed in their damp caves or dirty caverns, wherever they lived, and kept to themselves. Then Javias Wiseman did one of the most unusual and unforeseen things ever considered. Probably even of the unconsidered. He defeated the dragon that had claimed the Hioso Valley, also known as the Valley.

Ustinya
There weren't always dragons in the valley. In fact, there weren’t always dragons anywhere, and it was possible this one only came here now because of the river Nona, one of the last remaining in Kazimir. For indeed, the Grey Waste—as Kazimir was often called—now stretched across the whole northern half of the continent.

Ember and Ash
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. The earth did not always tremble and quake from the force of their every weighted footfall; the air did not always smell of sulfur and rot. Blades of emerald green grass grew here like butter-soft moss. Dappled sunlight pressed afternoon kisses to the tops of ancient white oaks. Faefelle's Aditus Valley was once a place for budding romances atop fragrant beds of silver moonflower. Children laughed and cheered as they played pretend, their mothers confident in their safe return once dusk arrived.

War of Dolls
Prologue Another tremor resounded from outside the thick walls of the sanctuary. Bits of mortar and ice rained down from the vaulted ceilings, high above. It sounded like a flashpowder barrel erupting, but may have just as easily been a wall collapsing, or an large object colliding through one of the many squat, ruinous buildings of Magadan.

Psyche
"There weren't always dragons in the valley" muttered the voice in Psyche's head startling her awake . The bed she lays on is hard, the room is dark, and her arms hurt stretched out above her lank body. She tries to pull them over her chest but feels only restriction, moving her legs she feels the same. Fuzzy headed and confused she arches her neck, her eyes adjusting to he dark enough, to see, in shades of grey, the restraints that bind her before falling back to sleep.

Beneath the Dragon's Talon
Chapter 1-Welcome to Mandina There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. They came with the east wind on the twenty-second year of my reign. That day, the fiery vortex passed over the mountaintops in a swirling chaos of fire and death. The long wings of the dragons blotted out the sun, and that was the first day we knew we would have to join the world.

White Roses
A tall handsome figure stands hunched over in his usual way. His arms are crossed with his left index finger tapping gently on his chin while he reminisces about the world outside the castle. His strong facial features illuminate the reflection of the sun. His hair seems to flow naturally from the warm spring air. His choclate locks flowing down to his shoulders with highlights of golden sun beaming through the waves of curls. He was standing in a corridor looking out an arched window lost in thought.

Dr. Mitts’ Balm For Unbearable Sadness
Casey Mendez examines the near-empty glass in front of him. He couldn’t remember if this was his ninth beer on his sixth night coming to this bar this week or the reverse. Catching your wife cheating on you was one thing, but then having her admit it and say that she’d rather throw six years down the drain than stop seeing him was entirely different. It was a gut punch, and the only remedy Casey had found was drowning his insides in hops.
