The Sound of Fire
“There weren’t always dragons in the valley, if you had told me two months ago we would all combine our might to battle not one but four dragons I would have called you an idiot. Then I'd likely start a brawl with you for being an idiot.” The tall man says as he finishes relieving himself against a tree, he pulls up his breeches then ties the laces together. He turns around to look at his young companion who is looking into the deep dark forest watching for any sudden movement. The torch he is holding is freshly lit, the flame reaches above the young man’s head illuminating more than half of his body. His brown shoulder length hair shines as bright as his chainmail shirt when the fire moves.

The Dragon Warrior
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Instead, I would hear different faded sounds of roars every night. I'd imagine dragons were communicating with one another in the Valley. I couldn't help myself to shake the ominous feeling running through my stomach. There were nights I dreamt about the Valley being destroyed. It was a beautiful place where I was born, grew up, and loved so much that I could call it home.

Collin's Dragon
Collin’s Dragon There weren’t always dragons in the Valley… until the day Collin fought back. It was a cold July day on the afternoon of his fourteenth birthday. He walked along the cobblestone path through the bustling marketplace at the centre of Iratus village with uncharacteristic aplomb. Collin proudly wore his newly sewn, bright green woolen tunic — a birthday gift from his mother — while cradling the intricate clockwork toy his grandfather had gifted to him in his left hand. His long brown trousers, cut an inch too long, hoping he’d grow into them as the year went by, dragged against the ground with every step.

Forever to reside within the minds of historians, only to be given the breath of new life through the fresh, youthful, innocent minds of school kids, eager to learn about their ancestors' lives. The same kids that had never before been faced with those same fears & misfortunes that had long ago befallen those primitive humans of a tragic existence ravaged, and long forgotten by time itself.

Dragon War
“ There weren’t always dragons in the valley, “ my grandfather had once told me. “ There weren’t? “ I had asked, curious. “ No, “ he’d said with a smile. He looked into my pale grey eyes and stroked my red curls with one weathered hand. “ Before the war they had little to do with humans. Then the goblins came. “

I wonder what it is.” Sage joins her sister up on the stones to sunbathe her fins. The three sisters live in a small pool of water next to the garden of life in the valley of the spirit world. Blue was swimming around the water’s edge seemingly trying to avoid the conversation. Ruby is the oldest of the three sisters. She notices that Blue was acting very odd and calls out to her. “Blue what is up with you?” Also noticing that Blue wanted no part in what they were discussing. “What do you know?” Ruby says in her big sister probing way. “Nothing.” Blue replies but her words hinted to a secret, a very big secret and Ruby knew right away she was hiding something. “Do you know what’s going on with the dragons? If you do, you better tell us right now!”

A New Threat
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The thought crossed Saíf’s mind, not for the first time since he had set out from his home in the rugged mountains of the Gods’ Spine. As he lazily turned the pages of the thick tome on his lap, he mumbled to himself,

Dragon Tales
Dragon Tales 'Trey' “There weren’t always dragons in the land.” As always he began his blog. The thousands of people that flocked to his platform looked for that one line that began his tale of flying mythical beasts. Not many people were as brave enough-or as his father would put it-stupid enough to go looking for them. Others ran or peaked out from darkened windows when the dragon arrived. But not him, not Trey. He was fascinated as well as all the others but his fascination bordered on obsession. Besides, what kind of blogger would he be if he didn’t give his audience what they craved, a glimpse of the dragon? That’s right Trey, blame it on the obsession of others.
