Scales of Balance
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. It's said that in the time of our ancestors, dragons couldn't be found in Senke, they were creatures of the heavens that watched over the people of the world. Perhaps they were a final wish of a sorcerer on his deathbed, or perhaps a gift from those in the beyond.

Her Dragon Slyer
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Mallick sat at the battered table listening to his troops prepare for battle, writing a letter. He had come to this valley fifty years before, banished by his bitch of a mother. Closing his eyes, he could still see that day clearly. His mother sitting on her throne like the regal leader that she was, lording it over him and the fairy court as they made their decision of what to do with him. Finally, someone whispered in her ear, the verdict had been passed. Banishment beyond the vail no goodbyes and no chance to gather any of his belongings. With the decision made his mother had stared at him with ice in her eyes and snapping her fingers he was transported to the mortal realm in a blink. Sighing he signed the letter he quickly rolled it up and sealed it with a glob of red wax which he pressed his dragon signet ring into the warm wax. Rising he handed it and a square flattish box to the man standing silently by the table.

Fire of Kalalau
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Never having seen anything so stunning in the entire world. A place so suspensefully breathtaking many common wanderers journeyed to this tiny earthly vortex having embarked on a horrendous sea ride and arriving on the sand filled beaches of this mysterious dormant volcano. Beginning an eight-hour hike from the trailhead through Sliding Sands and onwards to Kalalau beach. Walking barefoot the whole way soaking in the intense scenery with steep mountain side cliffs covered with lush plant growth and a deep, green valley way scaling back and up towards the peaks of the mountain range. Freezing cold pools along the Valley water system to float in, dry caves, wet caves, 100-foot waterfalls and a giant white sand beach with waves crashing onto the shore. It was a heavenly oasis with access only by foot to the common wanderer.

Grimblood
“There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They mostly kept to themselves high in the mountains to the East, unreachable by land or sea. Above it all, In the land of Mountain Gods called Grausund, the birthplace of magic and a place where the sun and moon meet. Or at least that’s how some legends go. We never really knew the reason for their isolation. Although most legends involved the splitting of the land on the day of Umindrim. A story for another time. Sometimes if you were quiet you could barely make a faint howl in the distance echo, bringing with it a cold wind from the East. I experienced it a few times in my childhood. Although I am very hopeful I will feel it again, I fear those times may soon come to an end.”

Worth More Than Gold
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The Great One gifted each clan one dragon egg before his death. When the dragon would hatch, it would mark its new home and other dragons would begin to make nests there as well. For as long as anyone could remember, nearly every clan was home to at least one dragon.

Keydra
There weren't always dragons in the valley. At least, that's what she'd been told. She'd never known the valley to be dragonless, nor could she picture it. Nor, even, did she want to. Sure, the dragons were ferocious and terrifying, and living near them was, in a sense, taking your life in your hands. And yes, they had hot tempers and even hotter breath and were the reason that the forest that had once flourished here was now very nearly extinct.

Laesha
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Laesha's grandmother had told her stories as a young cub of The Time Before. Before awe and wonder. Before magic. Those stories had often confused Laesha. After all, the whole reason they came to the Valley was the dragons. "Yes, my cub," her grandmother would say, "but life was different then. Back then, we came to the Valley for the same reason the dragons are there now. It was a lush and fertile hunting ground. We were careful not to over-hunt it. That's why we kept leaving, but we always go back."

The Five of Swords
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Once, the Valley of Vah'khamann was a land of lush, rolling grasslands, with game to hunt and soil to till. The land was plentiful and generous, so much so that mankind from across the world gathered to take part in its bounty and still there was enough for all. It was thought that the sun would never cease to shine upon the Valley or it's people, but all that changed when a great shadow befell the land.
