There weren't always dragons in the Valley.

There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Never having seen anything so stunning in the entire world. A place so suspensefully breathtaking many common wanderers journeyed to this tiny earthly vortex having embarked on a horrendous sea ride and arriving on the sand filled beaches of this mysterious dormant volcano. Beginning an eight-hour hike from the trailhead through Sliding Sands and onwards to Kalalau beach. Walking barefoot the whole way soaking in the intense scenery with steep mountain side cliffs covered with lush plant growth and a deep, green valley way scaling back and up towards the peaks of the mountain range. Freezing cold pools along the Valley water system to float in, dry caves, wet caves, 100-foot waterfalls and a giant white sand beach with waves crashing onto the shore. It was a heavenly oasis with access only by foot to the common wanderer.

With an abundance of freedom and nature to roam a fellow wanderer and I had begun our epic voyage dropping everything that summer becoming well known throughout the mystical area offering yoga and massage for other trekkers passing through in exchange for mainland goods. Kalalau beach offered so much from swimming out into wet caves and caverns along the cliff side embracing the healing power of the island and mystical water movement flowing in and rhythmically dripping off the cavern roofs. Embracing the Valley community, though rare to encounter as they were often in hiding and avoiding civilization.

The values of this magical valley community were to gather and give thanks for its blessed rainfalls. Known to be the wettest part of all planes of existence on Earth. Everything in complete harmony and equilibrium with elemental air, water, earth, fire and ether spirit. Cooling and healing waters washing down from the skies pronouncing all things cleansed and pure. It was an infectious place to be with ferries, mystics and wizards of all energetic levels conspiring together. The night after receiving cinnamon berry healing initiated by a level Ram wizard a Strawberry Full Moon celebration began at Kalalau. Drums and flutes vibrated and whistled through the air as the ashes swept up from a massively conjured fire created in the middle of the beach. There were wanderers, ferries, mystics, trekkers and wizards of all kinds conjuring their potions and prayers casting them into the fire for the next 30 days of magic manifestation. All glittering and sparkling flecks of potion evaporating up into the sky as the full moon cast a beautiful shade of rosy pink down on the ceremony. We had heard word only the biggest mastery of energy was about to enter the Valley little did we know it would bring such fire and vengeance in ways of fear rippling through the bones and flesh of our bodies.

The dragons didn’t make their presence known until the wee hours of the morning after the ashes had settled from the full moon ceremony. When the deep fiery huffs and sissing began whispering and echoing off the walls of the mountainside I felt goosebumps raising on the backside of my neck while catching glimpse of the wizard who worriedly reached for his staff and with deep focus pronounced a grand spell of protection to wash over all.

Within minutes of his cast spell the dragons made themselves known and appeared like vipers slithering out of the Valley on their bellies only to take flight and begin circling above the beach with heavy breaths of vicious fire lighting up a magnificent orange and magenta reflection off what now was a raging ocean for miles and miles. As the Valley responded to the arrival of the dragons every element became fierce and potent to avail. The healing food plants turning to poison and the beach becoming impossibly penetrable as waves began crashing onto the shores as high as the waterfalls previously formed. From that moment forward nothing would be the same or in harmony in the Valley of Kalalau and not only would land become complete opposite of its lush growth only barren lands and battlefield of fire and wizardry would prevail for the coming years ahead. With food becoming scarce it was up to Ram wizardry to solve the aching question of survival with dragons scouring and negatively catalysing all of the Valley’s well known magic.
