Chronicles of Light
There hadn't always been dragons in the valley. They had come out of the deep ravine like earthworms, burrowing straight out of the darkness. Their obsidian black scales blended in with the night as they spread out like shadows, leaking their malice wherever they went like some sickly disease.

Fortune Favors the Shrewd
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. This truth was the paste that held Vesna’s cracked being together. One day each year, the Borderfolk, too, could dance. When dawn conquered the slumbering horizon each Summer Solstice, the Borderwomen would rise and take to the forest. In the waking Tumblewood, their verdant chatter would lilt in harmony with surrounding birdsongs—a better blend than any Altaryn orchestra. They would gather herbs and wildflowers. They would gossip as they wove wreaths, as they donned them atop braided hair—queens of the forest, for a day. In the evening, they would dance to the thrumming pull of the Veiled River.

Blood-Born: A Dragon's Tale
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Although dragons used to reign freely, they eventually died off and fell into the endless well of memory like all others, falling deeper down the black well until the existence of dragons felt more like folk tale than history. However, even after new settlers came into the valley, replacing the dragons, the memory of the epic beasts lived on. Dragons could not always stay in the valley.

Quest for Memory
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Of course, just like anywhere, they had their fair share of gnome infestations and large pixie populations. The Chief even swore he had seen a unicorn once, but the Valley – creatively named after its location - had never once homed a dragon.

Dragon Flight: Wings of Terror
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. They were just suddenly there one day, with flames and thunder. I can still remember it. The smoke, the screams, the ashes. The vile smell of sulphur and, if you paid attention, even the fear had a smell beneath the burning.

A Path of Shadow and Courage
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. More precisely, there weren’t always dragons in every part of the Valley. After all, the latest attempted census by Calidor’s dragonologists estimated that the entirety of the Dragon Wilds was home to a mere two hundred and twenty dragons. Roughly sixty of those were bachelors who resided on the outer mountain ridges and wrought havoc on the farms and plains of the wider continent. Scholars guessed that another thirty were hatchlings still too young to leave the watchful eyes of their parents. It would be unreasonable — illogical, even— to assume that the remaining hundred or so dragons could always be in all parts of the Valley.

Duel of fate
There was not always Dragons in the Valley. There was not always life or civilization before my people were brought to this prison. It was nothing but an endless stretch of sand dunes and jagged black rocks. Now its home to last of the Aesirian people. Who live in a shanty town of rusted tin and clay brick buildings, with cloths for doors. There are no fences around our prison or guards, just a swarm of Dragons that fly around the perimeter like a nightmarish Tornado with the prison in the eye of it.

Dragons Suck
Chapter One There weren't always dragons in the Valley. They called themselves Torentale, but trust me, nobody running up on a fifteen-foot, fire-breathing lizard with fangs and claws and giant bat wings is gonna call them anything but ‘Dragons.’ I would never have even seen one at all, but what are you gonna do when the flipping Council let any kind of wanked-out, hot-wired and lizard-brain creeper inside the so-called Safe Zones these days. Used to be real human people were protected from the Enhanced and the alien crossbreeds, but that all changed with the New Ways Acts.

A Bloom in the Darkness
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. It wasn’t always this way, a world filled with despair. There was once joy, love, peace and abundance. That was all before the dark one, Narek the most deceitful and conniving of dragon kind filled the minds of men with filth, death and violence. After he dredged up all of that hate and vitriol that was in us all along, he set about to change every man, woman and child into something different. Something twisted, something worse than what he had already done to humanity. He wanted to take that spark of light that was instilled inside us at the dawn of creation, and instill something of his own. Something writhing, something dark, something twisted. A mockery or a caricature of what humanity is meant to be, what we are designed to be, what we are destined to be…
