The Reverberations of Water
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. It wasn’t that they were rare. In fact, they had their own territory but that was in the Great Overlook Mountains. Their sudden arrival in the valley was equal parts confusing and terrifying.

The Age of Fog
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Before the First Age, the natives ruled this land. But then the dragons came, ushering in The Age of Blood, where great battles resulted in innumerable deaths. The Age lasted for centuries, but eventually, an uncertain peace was formed. The natives having retreated to the coastlines, let the dragons be, and in turn the dragons did the same. The peace ended in a most unexpected way. The Age of Blood became The Age of Blight, for the dragons got sick and their flesh started to rot. It wasn’t long before the natives could retake the land that was once theirs. Everything but the far end of the Valley. Legends tell of the last dragon, a Rotted King that lives deep in the Valley, enshrouded in fog. Whoever ventures into this fog will be consumed and his flesh will be used to replace what the King has lost. To this day the Valley Deep lies undisturbed. Waiting to be welcomed back to the world.

Book of Dragon
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. I recall about a hundred and five years ago when I was a foolish lad in a small village where the air was pure and clean. With no sightings of a single blasted dragon; then again, dragons were just simple stories to dissuade children from becoming too adventurous.

Valley Of The Dragon Queens
Ancient Kemet 4562 BC There weren't always dragons in the Valley. At least, that's what my great-grandmother has always told me. She loved to spin these fantastical tales of a time when Giants ruled these lands, and we Nubians were at the mercy of their tyrannical will. Then, one day before recorded history, the mighty Queen Ammut appeared from the underworld. Unraveling her shiny, scaly body like a gentle swan. Captivating all with her beautiful eyes, the color of Lapis Lazuli. Emitting a sound so melodic and beautiful that it put all who heard it in a trance. While the righteous slept, Ammut went to each soul, one by one.

A Dragon's Vice
There weren’t always dragons in The Valley. Haasgor, first breath of the born-again Empress Aleia Levros, shook his gaze from the ash-stained earth and neighbouring hills. The weight of his dark cloak, under a brazen sun, continued to see him sweat. He urged his horse into a canter, ignoring the burnt remnants of the stables he and his brother had worked years earlier. This side of the Broken Sea, and certainly so close to the Bloodlands, everything burned. Last Pass was once a sought-after sight for weary travellers of the dead empire, the final village before The Valley waned into what Haasgor’s great grandfather named Hill Heir’s Marsh. It took a moment to realise his mount had come to a standstill, Last Pass’s inn had been reduced to a deep blackened scar of scorched rubble. Haasgor peered down at his hands, webs of veins exalting up the back of the fist he had unintentionally made. His steed’s reigns were taught in his grasp.
