Starfall
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. They had taken back the northern part of the planet ever since the Namtud took place over half a millenia ago. Someone - or something - brought them back, and, fairly recently, have started spreading out over the rest of Arcaxor.

Mirror Lake
There weren't always dragons in the valley. Papa once kept Sparkulies in that part of the kingdom too. These were translucent lizard-like beasts which grew almost as big as the juvenile dragons. They had roamed freely and proudly here, pacing about with their knobbly clawed feet in search of food. With their barrelled torsos revealing their pink and mustard coloured innards, they would have been quite terrifying if it weren't for their comical, giant blue splayed ears that waved like sea anenome. But once they got a taste for the flowering Eonapod, with its precious and poisonous petals, they had all died out by the end of the season. It was a shame really. Greed. The downfall of so many creatures in Dezmery.

A Song of Storms
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Afshan looked down from his perch hidden in the cliffs that encircled the lands below. This used to be our home. Even from a distance away, he could see how loathsome the Valley had become. It was a barren wasteland, a sea of coarse sand, dotted with ugly brown shrubs and red rocks scorched with fire. The legacy of their ancestors was scattered upon the Valley floor, collapsed shacks and crumbling stone walls.

The Lacertian Games
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley of Eramus. The Qarbor Mountains ensured the beasts remained on their side of the supposed dragonmade range that had risen from beneath the earth at the conclusion of the War and drawn a veritable line between human and dragon. For three decades, the only mingling involved captive aquadrakes born and bred for slaughter, until dozens escaped the farms.

"Going Down"
by Lennox O'Súilleabháin There was no glamour or nobility in suffering together. She’d repeated the mantra coming into work. Another memo was on her desk by the time she arrived that morning. It had been waiting for her there, the fourth that week “requesting” her “attention on the matter of the elevator”. With each subsequent memo the threats from management had grown more dire.

Desecration of the Sky
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. According to local archaeologists, the Lohsaari Valley became a common home to dragons roughly eight hundred years prior to Mareck’s birth. Why did they choose this particular patch of land for their mating, their hunting? Was it the proximity to the nearby lake, which many prey animals would use for watering? Was it the openness of the area, so they could not be trapped by potential hunters?

Dragon Slayer
“There weren't always dragons in the Valley, y’know…” Angren half-whispered into the dense evening air, not to anyone in particular. He sucked on his pipe noisily, the cherry embers of old tobacco glowing as he gazed out at the mountains surrounding the continent of Vakren.

A Measure of Peace
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Until fifteen years ago, dragons resided solely in the Southlands. Then, soon after Nola was conceived, a pair took up residence on the cliffs of Loom Mountain, high above the village. Nola could hardly conceive of a time when the skies were home to clouds and birds alone. Her eyes were perpetually trained upwards, searching for the passing shadow of a dragon or the glint of iridescent scales.
