Flying Endurance
There weren’t always Dragons in the Valley. And I didn’t always fear for my unborn child’s life. The Valley used to be an isolated area, with lush, blooming vegetation during the Sol Moiet – when the sun rose high and graced the Valley with growth – surrounding the deep caves within the mountains that provided protection during the Gelid Moiet – when the sky showered the ground with waves of white rain. Two large mountains, the istral and the extral, cut through the middle by the wide river Xeytis, were home to my people and the Village the gods birthed for us millenia ago.

The Beggar Queen
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. From atop the driver's seat of a sorcery-propelled wagon, Cole "Silverhand" Thompson stole a glance at the sky -- where a dozen black-winged, serpentine dragons twisted and dove in the crisp, winter air over what had once been the San Fernando valley and greater Los Angeles.

The Dark Summer
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Not that it mattered now. Adrienne stood in her once-elegant coronation gown, frozen, as the boulder she had attempted to scramble up unfolded into a drake. His massive body slithered around until he stood on four legs, his tail disappearing into the trees on the far side of the clearing. His bulky wings balanced on his gnarled back. The great beast towered over his newly discovered treasure and dwarfed the trees surrounding the meadow. The dragon opened his mouth, displaying a cavity large enough for the princess to stand up in, and breathed his coal breath onto her face with a guttural hiss. The heat transferred to Adrienne confirmed his identity; Erobern, the fearsome fire drake that terrorized Erste these past months, stood before her.

The Dragon-Kin
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The legends tell that the ancient people worshipped them long ago, before they left Taleria to return to their home atop mount Rumuthu. A mountain said to stand so tall that the clouds rumble in envy as it’s peak breaches through the very edge of our skies. And this is why it is said that that the universe can hide no secret from a dragon’s gaze, for their eyes have witnessed the true light of our stars. After the millennia, however, most now took these tales to be nothing more than bedtime stories told to children. That was until now. It was one week passed since the people of Taleria paused in awe, as the sun cowered behind mighty dragon wings. Like mountains upon their back, their wings reached out across the visible sky, and the winds clapped like thunder with every powerful thrust. Like a veil of the opaquest black they cloaked the land, leaving no features visible to the astonished viewers excepted the monstrous scale of wing and claw. Indeed, the houses shook, and the seas smashed as they made their descent into the great valley. The people of Taleria have since been far too frightened to dare approach within leagues of this place. And the dragons have not once been seen again since entering the deep rift, covered by the walls of the surrounding cliffs. But what the people of Taleria do not know, is that this was not their first arrival.

The Dragon Queen
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. However, that changed 16 years ago. Like every other supernatural creature here, they came to live out their last days in Vallis Mortis, The Valley of Death. You see, the creatures that call this place home are the very last of their kind, unable to birth new life. That’s what happens when the Royal Timekeeper line of a species dies out. The rest of the species follows suit, unable to produce new life.

The Shield Maiden and the Dragon Tamer
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. There had been no need for such fantastical creatures in the kingdom of the Fae. Hidden from the world of men, surrounded by a massive mountain range on three sides whose peaks stretched beyond the clouds, it was a realm unlike any the world had ever seen.

The Seven Sisters
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. There weren’t always goblins, tricksters, or monsters under the bed. There was no plague, no famine, and certainly no natural disasters. People do crazy things when they lose someone they love.
