Dragon-Spared
Chapter 1 There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. At least that’s what Mim says. I was just a babe when the first of the dragons supposedly appeared. I caught her once on a good night – her tips were generous enough that our bellies were full, and she’d even managed to get her hands on a small pinch of sinter. Half-blasted on the highly potent and aromatic herb popular among the unfortunate blue collies like us, she told me about The Great Awakening.

Trouble in The Valley
"There weren't always dragons in the Valley," bellowed the voice of our beloved Elder Kasteon who stood hunched at the head of the table. His snow-white hair falls over his left eye, now replaced by a deep scar earned in battle with a beast of the Moors. "We were not always safe from the outside world. These dragons have protected us for thousands of years. Now, all of that is in jeopardy." He continued, "We MUST leave The Valley in search of a new home." pleaded Kasteon. "There is not enough food in the valley. The river, once mighty and full of fish, is now dwindling and can sustain our protectors no longer. They must leave and we MUST leave with them! I fear we cannot defend our home without aid from the dragons." Kasteon concluded with withered hands shaking, his voice trailed off as he sat back in his throne-like armchair carved of stone. Noble Visceroth, perched behind him, chirps and bends her might head to Elder Kasteon and gently nudges his arm as if to applaud his speech.

The Seal
“There weren’t always dragons in the valley,” Carrow flapped his robe behind him dramatically, as though he had wings. The flames of the bonfire sparked at the gust of air, sending light further up, illuminating the vast cave they’d made their home. Embers exploded beyond the barrier of rocks and scattered close to the young ones. They had been sitting almost too closely to the fire, enraptured by their storyteller, but they jumped back in fits of giggles as the firebrands descended. Rumor had it, Carrow had played several small parts in the King’s Theater, before the dragons came. Millicent had to admit he was entertaining.

The Tale of Drekarg
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. For dragons were not always real, or so the legends say. There was a time when the world was bereft of magic, a time of war known as the Age of Man. And there was a time even before man when magic did not live either. It was only with the fall of man, in the days that followed the Great Firestorms that magic was brought forth unto the world. Ironically, by that which man created, or so the Dwarves say. The Elves claim it was the greatest of men that heralded the firestorms and resowed the earth with fresh life and new laws, the laws of magic. And the men, well, they do not believe in magic, not for the most part for they have long been removed of its mystery and the company of Dwarf and Elf alike. But alas, it has long since been a time of magic and there were now dragons in the Valley. The trouble was, no one remembered.

Trail of Bones
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Indeed, nestled between the Sea of Ashes to the east and the Velemir Mountain range protecting against modernization to the north and warring countries to the west, the Valley offers a semi-permanent refuge. The once desolate, barren, and unexplored area is now rich with foliage and home to the last remaining dragons on earth.

Valley of The Dragon
Chapter One: Prologue of a History Unknown There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Most say dragons are pure myth, and there never were any at all. Some say the valley is where the last dragons were hunted long ago, longer than our histories record. But none would believe one still lives deep in the valley's caves. But I do.
