Ancestry
Ancestry By C. Jyl Parker Roscha the Red folded her wings ever so slightly as she descended toward her mountain lair. Landing on the ledge to the entrance, she ducked below the rocky ceiling and entered the tunnel to check the nest of her three dragon eggs. It had been a century since she attempted a clutch, and for that matter, find a mate. Any day now, she would have three babies. She had mated with an older silver dragon from the Lost Hills, so the young ones would likely be either red, silver or a combination of the two. There was also the ancestry to consider, as her sires were not always red, nor were the ancestors of her mate all silver.

The Fires of Hope
Ithgael A stream of light broke through the tree canopy, gently warming Ithgael's snout. He stirred, slowly opening his eyes to take in his surroundings. The air was thick with the smell of humans, a scent he had learned to take seriously. He let out a quick puff of hot air and rose to his feet, muscles tensing with the pain in his right foreleg. He looked down scanning the wound, the burnt scales flaking to reveal soft damaged skin beneath. The kings' mage had delivered an agonizing wound to him yesterday, causing him to turn and flee which allowed the king and his company to make it to the castle walls alive, but not before Ithgael had burned away most of his men at arms. Ithgael looked out towards the sound of humans. The trees were well spaced enough to allow for a clear line of sight for around three hundred paces but he saw no one. He did however hear them, shouting and trudging through the undergrowth. Another vain attempt at sneaking up on me, trying to finish this crusade of theirs once and for all. For a creature so small in stature you would think they would find masking their approach easier, Ithgael thought to himself. He extended his wings and took to the sky, being sure to hug the canopy so as not to give away his position and he headed away from the humans toward his home.

The Little Treasure
Parallel lines of mountains clambered over the landscape, carving lines through the earth. Settled between them was a forest. Enormous trees, millenia old, stretched longingly to the sky. Fluffy white clouds hung low in the sky, taunting the timber below as they silently drifted. A spring breeze ushered them quickly down the valley, as if eager to prevent jealousy from the forest below. Shadows passed over a field of tall grass and mountain flowers. Far from any settlements, this was the perfect lair for an old, solitary dragon that preferred the company of the forest over anything else. Nestled near the center of the meadow lay that dragon. Laying on his back, legs in the air, long neck curled around a pillar of smooth stone, slept Archimedes.

Avni and Ida
For nearly two centuries, the people of Madglen set aside their differences, placed the needs of the whole above all, and, most importantly, secured peace. These years have been a challenging task. War was almost waged due to misunderstandings, land, money, and greed; but the conflict was not settled on the battlefield, but around a table. The city of Bridgemire, known for its ill-temper and conceded mindset leaders, successfully built a community of structure and law; these were genuinely fantastic times in Madglen. That was true until two sought to hold a power that had not been summoned for almost a millennia. Agis Erris, an elf from the city of Ebonwall, and Yagen, a half-demon from Darkguard. They sought The Crown of King Saward the Silencer and his Scepter of Immortality.

Gambit of Eldargarrd. Honorable Mention in Mismatch Challenge.
Hypnotic sounds of trilling insects rose and crashed like ocean waves, unseen in the dense fog of Forbudt Mørkskov. Pinpricks of brilliant yellow light flashed. Randomly at first, then slowly synchronized as the Ildflue started their mating ritual. Cracking timber echoed off the valley walls in attempts to betray that which would stalk unwelcome visitors. Oskar Kætter and his boy, Magnus, were those unwelcome visitors.

Wutha and Sabar: A tale of man and beast
It was in a town called Gregory; a town once known for its beauty, now brought to ashes and despair. The remains of those who had once lived there now cover a vast amount of land, it was a blood bath, splashes of blood everywhere, bloody fingerprints on the walls of the kingdom, and the land, which was once green, had now turned red. There was fire set in a circular motion to cover the walls of the kingdom and behold a clamorous sound of heavy breathing as though a thousand men chose to breath at the same time, just as that had happened, a monstrous shadow emerged from nowhere, the shadow of the cathedral was swallowed by this monstrous figure, and at that point, it became clear, it was a dragon.
