Jerreck's Tale
Prologue The old dragon barely ventured out anymore, ever since the day he knew his beloved Darcy was slain by the wizard known as Wiley. Yet, the day he noticed the young child near the waterfall, he knew she was lost; and in his heart, he felt the child would not be frightened of him, nor would she ever be a threat to his kind. Jerreck decided he should watch the girl closely for a while before deciding to make his presence known to her. She was barely 4 years old, and yet, she seemed so calm and wise. It wasn't until he caught her scent rising over the rushing waterfall she sat next to, that Jerreck's eyes dilated. This child not only carried the smell of the witch known as Marge, but he could smell dragon blood as well. She was too young to understand, but that didn't mean he couldn't help her. So Jerreck emerged from behind the cascading waterfall slowly. The child looked at him as if to say "what took you so long?" and smiled at him brightly. He felt this interaction in his heart. Jerreck was unsure what she was doing at the water's edge all by herself, but she seemed to know his curiosity and was determined to show him. She continued placing her hand a few inches above the water and slowly pulling it away, watching the surface of the water move like it wanted to follow her hand. When the child smiled at Jerreck every time she accomplished this, her eyes twinkling, his heart pulled intensely. He knew she didn't understand what was happening but was very curious and docile. He didn't want to allow her to continue but couldn't help but be proud of the severity in which she was concentrating at such a young age.

Forests and Flames
Tarren knew she wasn’t where she was supposed to be. The forest that, during the daytime, held memories of playing with her friends in the patches of sunlight breaking through the canopy had quickly become frightening as the sun set and her clothes were thin enough that she had begun shivering in the brisk autumn air. In the darkness, she couldn’t see well enough to stop her tiny feet from tripping over the raised roots of the trees surrounding her.

Four Fights For Freedom
A long time ago, deep in the caverns, there lived two dragons. Well, I have to admit. Not two dragons, it was more like five. Those other three dragons were the other two dragons' PARENTS. Sadly, the parents never wanted those other two dragons to marry each other. OH, did I just spoil it for you? Did you not know that the other two dragons were getting married? Oh well, let’s just fill your brain with the character's names and what they look like.

The Mark of Ayra
The light from the rising sun flickered through the trees onto the iridescent scales of Sheirok, an elder dragon of the Thunder of Groenveld. He treaded stealthily following the cries of a creature in the center of the wood. A scent grazed his nostrils, sweet yet putrid, repulsive yet intriguing. He was surprised to find a small figure with alabaster skin. Its cheeks wet with tears, sitting near the base of a grandmother tree. It had been a long time since he had seen a human, even longer since he had seen a child.

Heart of Gold
Carreen stared down from the cave entrance toward the smoke-filled village. Smoke enveloped the forest around her, making every rock and tree appear to her like a menacing monster. Somewhere below was the real monster, slithering through the town, searching for anything that glittered.

Of the Ages
In my vigil, the silence wraps around me like a blanket. Like a yoke. And it used to feel tighter, part of me remembers. I don’t know if I have grown into it, this burden, or if I am just used to it. There must be a difference, but I do not know what that is. I wish I could ask you, and I suppose that I could, but I don’t think that you know either.

Wanderling
The late autumn sunlight filtered weakly through the bare branches and the last leaves remaining on the Deep Wood trees. The past few days had been dry, and the fallen leaves and random forest debris crunched musically with every step Dangira took. A slight breeze carried the smells of dry leaves, slightly damp soil, rocks, and the distant smell of wood smoke. She took care to keep the movement of her tail to a minimum and breathed deeply while smiling up at the evening sky that was dusted with the colors of fire and night. With this breath, she caught a new scent. One she could not identify.

Wings
Sunlight sprinkles through newly grown leaves of the forest’s sturdy branches. Fresh new smells pierce the nostrils, as shimmering scales break through the leaf’s shadows. Reptilian talons crackling the earth’s surface breaking the silence of the serene mountain, as a frightened deer suddenly tangles between large triangular fangs. Membraned wings flap in excitement while lunch is secured. Glistening puddles on the earth’s floor reflect a magnificent and shiny creature. One that has been told in old folk lore for centuries. A dragon.
