Last of His Name
Run! run!…run. Craig got awake by a sudden, horrific trembling voice which continuously repeated the word, “Run”. The red-stoned castle was a masterpiece of art in the city of Zoraaf. Craig, a nine-year-old kid whose father was a maester of the castle was given permission by king Sebastian to stay in the castle along with his family in return for the hospitality and loyalty offered by him. The opening sound of the door approached and it made Craig more scared, so he covered himself with his blanket. Xandra approached him and said, “It’s me boy, hey little warrior it’s your father”. For a moment Craig thought that he is going to die but then discovering that it was his father he hugged him tightly as if he never wanted him to leave. After all, he was a kid.

Eternal Flight
"The heavens are so close and yet so far away", I said as I prepped our hovercraft, Shadow Walker, for what was to come. It would seem that being of primordial existence once thought to be a myth, was spotted by the denizens of my kingdom. Fear, wonder, and even anger all intertwined in the council. They argued for days and sometimes even into nights about what must be done about this situation. Weeks of deliberation were cut short when a tragic event had occurred. The news broke that the chieftain's family's home was burned to the ground -- Thankfully they were away when the fire started. This event immediately placed the blame on the unknown flaming body patrolling our skies. An operation, that was years in the making, was planned to eliminate the target.

A Night Flight
Cass opened her eyes and glanced at her watch. She had only been asleep for about 20 minutes. Cass always had a hard time sleeping in-transit. Usually that was no problem. She enjoyed the experience of traveling and keeping one eye on the window as the sights came and went. On an airplane, there were fewer sights to be seen once up in the clouds, but the novelty of being aboard an aircraft usually kept her occupied. Sometimes, though, the travel times lined up poorly or some snafu or another wore Cass down. Frequent fliers are going to have the occasional trip from hell, and that's just a fact of life. Tonight, it would have been nice to use the two and a half hours to catch some "z"s.

Fool's Gold
The satchel was fastened tightly to the harness, tucked securely under a side flap. I could only guess how the coins sparkled, how the jewels glistened. Their twinkling rattle delighted me as they shuffled together within the large pouch. I couldn't wait to lay my eyes upon them.

Burning High
"Go pet the phoenix," Mallory had said. "Or are you too much of a coward?" Letha tried to keep her eyes scrunched closed. Opening them again would only have the same result as it had the last time. The nearly unbroken stretch of treetops, made up mostly of the canopies of massive oaks, had looked like a mass of embroidery knots. Mum would be proud of that analogy, she was certain, because Letha had never been the slightest bit interested in embroidery.

Window Seat
It’s always been tough for me around this time of year. People say the high you feel from true love can be one that's hard to get rid of. That explains why I haven't been able to move on. I would sleep away the day in hopes to see her in my dreams. But my therapist told me excessive sleeping isn't healthy. I remember asking her if it's normal to wish you were dead just to be united with your partner. Her answer was one that I didn't want to hear but ultimately needed to because it was true. She said a life without love is not a life at all. She went on to say the love I lost and keep trying to recapture or relive is evidence that I still have more love to give. A part of me wants to believe her yet I can't help but feel like I would betray Eileen.

Frank, Supernatural Travel Agent
The blue sky, dappled in puffy white clouds flew past the window like some fantastical alien landscape. It was absolutely beautiful and any other time it would have transfixed me with its poetic beauty; but not this late summer afternoon.
