The Escape
Anna was about to go to her room with her grilled cheese someone rang the doorbell. Her brow furrowed as she wondered who it could be. She wasn’t expecting anyone. She hadn’t planned on doing anything today other than relaxing after a long week of work in her comfy socks. Perhaps it was for one of her roommates? None of them were here though. Anna was the only one here this weekend.

By drone alone
One day while sitting at home, I was basking in the sun from the sliding glass doors. Meditating whilst my body was splayed out, I heard a whirring sound approaching. Opening an eye, I saw that my video hadn't changed, so it wasn't a commercial playing. Then, a shadow fell over my face where instead there had been sunlight.

Hiding In The Snow. Runner-Up in Weekend Getaway Challenge.
We drove up the snowy, winding road toward the cozy A-frame cabin. We’d planned the trip as a reset and an attempt to get our marriage back on track but neither of us had spoken a word to the other in the last hour and a half. Things had gotten bad over the last several months and I wasn’t sure a weekend away would fix anything.

The Professor’s wish
She peeked through her blue stained glass window, and yawned, moving over her light pink kitchen with a dainty, quiet step to make the first batch of morning coffee. She liked to be up early as she always was an early riser. Rose was a petite woman with soft yellow curls and green eyes, a smile that always made others smile immediately after they saw it—magnetic, they couldn’t help it.

A Weekend Away
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. As the snow crunched underneath our tires, my mind was racing. Who was this person, that out of the blue decided to reconnect with me? That decided I was worth their time after so many years away. The better question was of course, how could I enter this relationship again, knowing how badly I ended up hurting last time I tried to rekindle this relationship. This time will be different, I continued to tell myself. Outside of the car the evergreens were glistening inthe sun. It looked like one of those glittery snowballs, you know the ones. The blue sky above still seemed enormous, towering over the ancient pine forest where our cabin retreat, where we could spend the next 48 hours.

The Naughty List
People love a good elf story. Think: Long-haired and long-legged Legolas gliding across the mountaintops of New Zealand, brandishing his bow to vanquish your foes and then sweeping you off your feet…yeah, I wrote my share of teen fanfiction back in the day.
