Yours and Mine
If walls could talk, I would tell you this: I've been there since the beginning, before there was ever a you. I remember your parents stepping into my vacant room for the first time. They were young then, so young. Your mother walked around smiling, glancing from me to the other light gray walls. "This would make such a cute nursery," she told your father.

Final Farewell
"If the walls could talk what stories they'd tell," Josie thought as she walked through the familiar front door. It felt strange to be here again after so many years. Everything had changed, the furniture was gone, the pictures no longer hung on the walls, the smell of fresh baked bread didn't permeate the air. Yet, everything felt exactly the same.

If Walls Could Talk
If walls could talk, I was born in 1993 in a dark hallway that was filled with arguments and anger. During this time, I had my stomach ripped out twice by the husband during a fit of rage. They had me filled back up with spackle, but I haven’t felt whole since. It wasn’t a big home during this time it felt even smaller.

If Walls Could Talk
If walls could talk, my voice would be distinctive. So, to speak, I was born in the early 1900s. I was the answer to a wealthy family's desire to enclose their land in the south of France. Every brick and stone that went into my construction was laid with love and attention. I was initially just a plain wall, but as time passed, I was altered to fit the family and the era.

Secrets
If walls could talk, what would we tell you. We would tell you that walls are forever. Walls are immutable. We divide communities, keeping people apart. We keep people safe, holding up the roof and giving shelter from storms. We are famous – everyone has heard of the Wailing Wall, the Berlin Wall, the Walled City of Jericho, the Great Wall of China. From time immemorial we have kept out invaders, kept your animals safe from predators, kept those people you deem a threat - whether through their crimes, their beliefs or your prejudices - apart from society. We protect your wealth and privilege, making those inside feel secure and those outside feel rejected and unworthy. When we fall, we cause devastation and despair. When we stand, we are praised for our strength and endurance. And we keep your secrets.

The Last Wall Standing
If walls could talk, then maybe I wouldn’t feel so alone. I believe I will feel less alone by telling you all I have seen since my creation. The hardships, true love, utter terror, and even deaths. I am part of a series of worn-out connecting walls that make a house. I am the foundation of the home. Without me, the house would collapse.

Where's Mary?
If walls could talk, we would ask…. Where’s Mary? We didn’t worry when she was gone for a few days. She’d left before. Seven, sometimes ten, days would pass, and but then, she’d burst through the door with too many bags, a suntan, and a big floppy hat that looked silly in the context of the one-story brick ranch we framed.
