Karen Vs. Karen
I complained to the captain of the cruise that he wasn’t sailing right. I complained to management that there weren’t enough caviar crackers. I complained to the chef that everything was undercooked. I complained to the waiter that the service was to slow. And I told all the customers they were to noisy and to go back to where they came from, even though I had no idea. I called them all idiots. A woman came up to me and told me to shut up, and when I didn’t she threw me off the boat. Her name was Karen, too!

Don’t Ignore the Poor
I was sitting outside the skyscraper, asking people for money. “Spare some change” I asked a man. “No, bum. Get a job. Like me. I’ve got an interview to go to,” he said. I waited until he got to the top floor. He sat outside the CEOs office. I made him wait, then went up. “What are you doing here,” he sarcastically said. I unlocked the doors to my office. “You didn’t get the job. You’re selfish. You don’t know why someone’s homeless, maybe they can’t work,” I said. I called security and had him tossed out of the building.

Auroras
Katsa skimmed just above the ground on her sidera, fighting a little as the small craft listed from side to side. It felt like the gyroscope was out of alignment, and it would be difficult to avoid getting thrown off before Rhoden could fix it. By dint of a few maneuvers that would have made her flight instructor proud, she made it to the engineercorps’ building without mishap. Recognizing her energy signature, the door obligingly dematerialized without asking for identification. There were benefits to having to come in so often.

The Wisping Wind
Paul laid on the beach thinking to himself, “They say the perfect beach experience doesn’t exist. But it does. Lounging here, the sun warming my body. The waves bringing in the cool ocean breeze, as it blows the hair on my back from side to side with each roll of the tide. The closest I’ve come to liking a warm clime. Perhaps this was the best time. A turning point. One can only hope.” Turning back over to read his book, he continued to enjoy the first bit of joy he’d had in months.
