Adventure
Ascension
There was a shudder followed by a deep loud earthly rumble that woke Althea from her sleep. It was then she realised that everything around her had changed. It must have been almost dusk as the sky was a vibrant red and the land itself was blanketed by its deep shade. But she soon realised that it was in fact the earth itself that was emanating this warm glow and it was coming from under the surface. The ground had started to split and shake with such ferocity Althea began to panic. She looked around and there was no one to be seen, only the blood red sky now matched by the earths lifeblood that began to pour out of the cracks like lava.

God Save the Queen
Chapter 1: Enter the Time Loop Ahmed had just gotten out of his physics class when he decided to take a slight detour back to his dorm. The campus had just installed a new form of high rail transport called the “hyper loop.” It was a shuttle on tracks that could take him to any point on campus. Being a physics student enamored with mechanical engineering and anything in fast motion—Ahmed was excited to try it out. He was glad to see that there wasn’t even anyone else in line to board. ‘Awesome, I’ll have it all to myself.’

The Samhain Chronicles
The boy sat in the corner of the room, huddled and sniffling. He trembled with cold and fear, as he had no idea where he was or how he got there. There were two women and a man in a long white coat who often came into the room and tried to talk to him, but he couldn't understand what they were saying. Once or twice the women tried to touch him or move him to the bed across the room, offering him food or a warm blanket. He didn't trust any of them though and didn't like being touched, especially not after the man in the white coat tried to poke him in the arm with something long and sharp. It hurt a lot and scared him terribly, so he'd scrambled away from the man and hid in the corner. He'd been there ever since, pressed close to the wall and screeching like a wounded feral animal at anyone who drew near. The last time he'd seen them felt so long ago now...but then again, his concept of time seemed a bit skewed. How long had he been in this strange place anyway? Hours? Days? Weeks? He couldn't say for sure. His stomach hurt, and his skin itched and prickled badly all over, particularly so on his back just below his neck. He scratched the spot, then whimpered as his fingernails raking over his skin triggered a flare of pain.

Last Long Ride
I’m ridin’ suicide. Below me the ballast stones blur with a pulsing flash of cross ties framed on either side by dull gray steel rails. My left knee straddles a rod in the bottomless car with a roar of metal and death in my ears. My ass sits on a narrow ledge of metal. My back presses against my guitar case strung across my back. The Gibson inside well padded by a pair of underwear and socks that are dirtier than what I’ve got on, a bundle of rope, a small canvas tarp and a slightly smaller wool blanket. I know in my right boot, used right now to keep me upright in this precarious position by tension on a crossbar, is a knife with a six inch blade. I’m hoping the vibrations don’t send it below, as there’s no way I could save it and me at the same time.
