Nothing to Lose Part 3
When Jonas's eyes opened the next morning, Susan was gone. He stared at the pillow where her head was, pulling it close to him like so many mornings before. It was not the most conventional relationship. Not that it could be. The hurdles that separated them were bigger than what either could work around. But still, Jonas knew that at a different time, she was his soulmate. And as dysfunctional as they were, finding that in another person was rare.

Don't Lose Your Cool
It was happening. They warned us that it was coming a few months ago. I’m not sure if most people believed them or not, but I’m sure they believe them now. So Much for an Early Night's Sleep. Top Story - August 2026.
Nellie couldn’t help but whistle as she headed to the bathroom. It was 10:45 pm, and for once, she was going to bed early. Nellie usually went to bed anywhere between 11:30 pm and midnight, and if she was being particularly naughty, 12:30 am. Only to have to wake up early for work. It wasn’t that she didn’t constantly try to have a better night schedule. Nellie was actually doing better than she used to. Generally speaking. It was just that after a busy day where she didn’t have much time to herself, it was just too easy for Nellie to surrender to the temptation to stay up past her bedtime so she could have a ‘few’ extra minutes of reading, YouTube, etc. Nellie thankfully was still getting enough sleep to function, but she knew that her body needed more in order to actually be well-rested.

Chapter One - Meridian Event
The starliner Meridian did not look like a ship designed to survive a war. Its hull was pearl-white and unbroken by scoremarks. Its windows were laid out in long ribbons that let passengers watch the emerald moon, Jhost, roll beneath them like a living coin. The interior smelled faintly of citrus oils and filtered air, engineered comfort masking the truth: this vessel existed to move important people gently between worlds.
