You, Shadow Man, You
If walls could talk, they would tell me why I have seen you here, every night, in the corner of the room, at the base of the bed beneath his feet. His toes are covered by sweat-soaked sheets. If walls could talk, they would tell me why I see you there, after we fall asleep to the buzz of mosquitoes and the hum of the generator and the water tip-tapping into a sink somewhere behind layers of paint and, also, behind my head. This head that sees you. The walls would tell me why I gasp awake and find you, there, hovering, like the dark figure they say you are, looming like they say you do. You shadow man.

Slumberland movie review
Little Nemo in Slumberland was a revolutionary comic strip that debuted in the New York Herald in 1905. It boasted a unique design, with panels that expanded and contracted to convey a genuine sense of proportion to readers. Bold use of color and trippy storylines set it apart, and creator Winsor McCay was later hailed as "the first original genius of the comic strip medium" by historian R.C. Harvey. R. Crumb, Art Spiegelman, and Federico Fellini all cited him as an influence. McCay was also a pioneer of animated film, with his first movie featuring a live-action/animation hybrid depicting him producing 4,000 drawings of Nemo. However, his use of ethnic stereotypes, especially in the case of one of Nemo’s friends, African Impie, is problematic by today's standards.

COMFORT ZONE
People living or had experienced to live on their own may understand the comfort of living a life within a four walls home separated from the noise of the outside world. I called this my comfort zone and my sweet escape. A place where I can be my own self and can take off the mask I need to wear when I go out and step outside of my home to face the world. Sounds cliché but in my own opinion and based on own experience, it is the best decision I have ever made into my life.
