Railstalgia - A Journey Beyond Tracks

A deep, emotional longing for the golden era of train travel

Sleeping off Railstalgia

I found myself aboard the "Eagle's Wing," a train so luxurious it made the Orient Express look like a subway car. Railstalgia hit me—a yearning for a time when train travel was an art form, a ritual of crossing landscapes while sipping bourbon.

"Last stop, Denver," the conductor announced. But for me, it was more than a stop; it was a time portal. The mahogany walls whispered stories of flapper girls and jazz musicians who had once graced these very seats.

As the train snaked through the Rockies, I met Eleanor, a mysterious woman in a red dress. "Ever experienced railstalgia?" she asked, her eyes twinkling like the stars outside.

"Every time I board this beauty," I replied.

She laughed, a sound as melodious as bourbon and ice clinking in my glass. "Then you're in for a treat."

As the clock struck midnight, Eleanor pressed a hidden button under our table. The train car transformed into a 1920s speakeasy, complete with a jazz band and flapper dancers.

"Welcome to the real Eagle's Wing," she said, handing me a cocktail that tasted like history.

We danced, we laughed, and for a brief moment, railstalgia wasn't just a feeling; it was a destination.

When I woke up, Eleanor was gone, and the train was pulling into Denver. Had it been a dream? Perhaps. But the scent of Eleanor's perfume still lingered, as did the magic of railstalgia.
