Episode 2

The monster traveled at the speed of light. Therefore, it had no mass. It would be all over before they knew what had happened.

It was all a question of resonance. The mega Tesla Coil was the tickler. Now I needed some cavities to resonate into the earth. They had to be capable of holding a mammoth wave. I built a powerful ultrasonic device at a frequency just above what a dog could hear.

I mounted it under the car so you could not see the emitter. I set up the computer to record the map of the sewers. I had to go up and down all the streets to get a complete map. Taking a week, I finally got a good map. After that, the computer easily calculated the resonant frequencies. I picked the easiest to generate frequency and set the tank. I had the electrical circuit to the house at the highest connection they would do.

Not wanting anybody to see in the house, I had those heavy blackout curtains. I did not want anyone to see how I had chopped up the walls to install the Tesla Coil.

The doorbell rang.

I cracked the door and said, "Yes ..."

The guy said, "Hi, I'm your new neighbor. My name is Mycroft. I'm a floor manager at the Linq. What do you do?"

I said, "I mind my own business."

Mycroft said, "What are you hiding in there? A grow room?"

"Most certainly, not."

"I'm not leaving you alone till I get some of your good weed," he said.

"There is no weed!"

Mycroft said, "Then I'm going to find out your secret."

I said, "Go away!"

I closed the door. That's when I noticed that Mycroft was snooping around. I paid for a high-dollar security system-video cameras, trip beams, and pressure sensors the whole nine yards. The salesman said I would know if a cat crossed the yard. The very next day, Mycroft had got by the first set of sensors. I walked into the yard.

"Mycroft! What are you doing? Get out of my yard."

"Why don't you call the cops on me? You wouldn't be doing something illegal, would you?"

"I'm buying a new option for the security system, the Glock option. This is your only warning."

I was asleep, and the alarm system went off. I grabbed the Glock. Mycroft was standing in the living room with a flashlight.

Looking at where the coil went through the wall through a hole I had cut. He said, "What the Hell is that?"

"Your death," I said as I pointed the gun at him.

The voice said, "Shoot him," but I couldn't kill him.

I pointed the gun at him and said, "Give me all your stuff."

"You won't shoot, besides iPhone is transmitting live to my site. My followers are watching me."

Screaming from being shot in the knee, he dropped to the floor. Walking over, I took his iPhone and stomped on it. Yanking him up by his arm, he screamed again. I took him to a guest room and threw him the bathroom.

"If I see you, I will shoot the other knee."

So, I went to the tool chest and got the nail gun. I came back and nailed the door shut. The window was too small for a full-size man to go, though. The window faced the backyard, and nobody could hear him on the large estate.

So everything was perfect, I had to make some more calculations to the fine adjustments. I found the feedback was too low. How would I boost it for maximum effect?

I needed a coupling cavity to reform the wave. At the low frequencies, I worked with the tuned cavity. At even the thirtieth harmonic, it was still enormous.

The physical tank I needed was not available. I could get 1000 liters too small or 5000 liters too big. I would have to get the tank that was too big and fill it with precisely the right amount of water. I figured out the exact spot on the property that the coupling tank should be for maximum effect. The massive tank would come in a week. What would I do with Mycroft?

"Mycroft, are you still alive in there?"

"You asshole! Let me out!"

"Mycroft, it seems we have a problem. I think it would be more than a week before I can let you go."

"Bullshit! I'll starve."

"You have water and a toilet."

"I need food."

"Tell you what, Mycroft, I'll think it over. You shouldn't have come here."

I walked away as he shouted, "No! Let me out! You must let me out ..."

I went back to the calculation as I found the right volume. I heard the voice.

"You are making a mistake. The volume is too small. It must be a third bigger."

"My calculations are correct. It looks to me that if I used that volume, it would block the wave."

"Trust me. It will work. After all of this, why would I stop you?"

"Because you are psychotic. You can see the future, but it drives you crazy. Your fate traps you never to change anything. You must survive. Pushing a rock every day up a mountain only to have it roll back down and do it all over again in a never-ending cycle. I will finish this, and no force in the Universe will stop me."
