Prayers for water

Lily had her left hand relaxed and opened as a man gently placed a silver double helix chain into her palm. As soon as the locket on the chain touched her skin, she woke up suddenly with a jolt of powerful electrical energy shooting throughout her entire body. She sat in bed breathing heavily as she felt all of her cells buzzing and tingling. This was not the first time she has had this dream and she was sure it would not be the last. Each time she had it, she was given the same locket by a man who was standing next to her, close enough to brush shoulders against one another. She could never see him, but could always feel him. She felt relaxed and at peace in his presence and knew he was the same man in each dream.

Before she could ponder about the dream and the oh so familiar but utterly mysterious man, Lily looked at the clock and saw that it was 2:22 in the morning and she had overslept. Every night she would ride in the underground transportation system to go to the center of the city, from one to four in the morning, to be in the park under the stars; the only window of time that she was able to be free and out in the open air. Over the past fifty-five years as the heat was rising on the planet, underground structures were built so people could continue to survive as life above the surface of the planet had started to dwindle. There was only a three hour period of time during the early morning where the temperature would be cool enough for human survival.

Eleven years ago, the world had faced a major drought and the earth had not been graced by rain for a decade. The heat on the planet continued to escalate and fires raged across all of the lands. Most of the earth had become uninhabitable and water had become scarce. Lily lived in a city where all of the preserved water was quickly running out. She would spend her mornings in the park praying for water while sitting by a stone and a dried passage where a sacred spring used to flow.

When she arrived at her usual spot, she was surprised to see a man sitting there with his back facing towards her. In all of the years she had sat here praying for water, she had never seen anyone else even glance in this direction. He turned around as she approached and smiled warmly at her and looked deep into her eyes. Once their eyes locked, she could instantly feel that he was the man from her dreams.

He stood up, walked towards her, and gently placed a gold heart-shaped locket with a silver double helix chain into her left palm. He took a deep breath, never taking his gaze away from hers, and said, “This will help you remember”. He slowly started to walk away. She stood there stunned and felt as if she could not move any part of her body. Lily had numerous questions rush through her mind but she lacked the capacity to voice them. Despite feeling overwhelmed, she managed to get out, “What is your name?”. “My name is Finn”, he replied, and then he walked into the darkness.

When Lily got home she immediately went and sat down on her bed holding the locket, with a strong desire to open it. As she held it in her left hand she felt the anticipation building to discover what secret message was ensconced within. With hands slightly trembling, she grasped the locket and slowly opened it.

She felt an instant pulse of energy radiate from the locket, directed straight into her heart and saw a reflective silver mirror on the inside that did not reflect her image but reflected pure white and silver light back to her. As the energy around her heart became light and expanded, she felt her eyes roll back as her entire body relaxed and she drifted off into sleep.

She opened her eyes and saw that she was sitting on the earth cross legged facing a beautiful man with long flowing dark hair and light blue eyes. He was staring back into her eyes and she immediately recognized him as Finn, although he was in a different body. She and Finn were holding hands while sitting in a lush forest with moss covered rocks and trees and the steady cleansing sound of crystal blue clear water rushing down the creek that they sat next to. The sun was pouring in through an opening in the trees and she could see the peak of Mt. Shasta peering through. She was able to shift her perspective in the dream and watch from an outsider’s view. For twenty-two minutes they faced each other, gazing into each other’s eyes and holding hands. As they rested in this frequency of love, she noticed that life in the forest became more active and vibrant; butterflies were swirling around them, more birds were sharing their songs, there were plenty of deer coming to drink from the creek, and leaves of the trees were dancing in the wind. When they stood up, they continued holding their right hands together and walked to the creek, dipping the heart-shaped locket into the abundant flowing waters.

When Lily woke up, she realized that the locket had taken her to a past life she had with Finn. She immediately wrote down all of the details that she could remember, knowing they were important for the mission she and Finn had been preparing to do together in this life.

For the next six nights, she connected with the locket before going to sleep and was taken into different reveries that showed her various past lives she shared with Finn. She was shown how each lifetime allowed them to build their connection and infuse the gold locket with the love they cultivated with each other and the sacred places they visited. Through her writing and dream recall each morning, Lily noticed how in each life their practice with each other evolved.

On the second night, they were sitting by the water with the sun reflecting off of the calm waters of Lake Titicaca in Peru, and saw her and Finn rocking their bodies back and forth as they held hands and melted into each other’s eyes.

The third night, she was taken back to the life where they were in Uluru, Australia and their breaths were synchronized for twenty two minutes, each breath fully expanding into their diaphragms and deep into their lower torsos.

She and Finn were sitting peacefully under the radiant full moon together on the fourth night where she was taken to a time when they sat by Stonehenge. In this life, their hand positions had changed, they each had their left hand on the other’s heart with the right hands conjoined at the level of their hearts, holding the locket together. When they looked down at their arms, they had created what appeared to be the Buddhist swastika symbol.

On the fifth night, they were sitting together with their spines erect, toning and harmonizing together in the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

She found herself sitting in a field of grass in Glastonbury with Finn on the sixth night. In this life, they were visualizing the silver light in the center of their hearts expanding and merging into each other to form a double helix and shining outwards into the open field and rising sun in the distance.

In their most recent past life, they were on Mt. Kailash in the Himalayas. They were sitting cross legged, gazing into each other’s eyes, arms in the swastika formation, connecting their energy to nature all around them, and channeling the energy into the open golden heart-shaped locket they held together with their right hands. At the end of this vision, the scenery changed and she was standing in a dark room and heard Finn’s voice whisper to her, “Meet me at the sacred spring at 2:22 tomorrow and bring the locket”.

The next evening, Lily could feel glittering palpitations in her chest as she was anticipating the time she could leave her underground dwelling to meet Finn at the sacred spring.

When she arrived at the arid sacred spring, she saw Finn awaiting her. They made eye contact and smiled, causing her heart to flutter and skip a beat as she took in a deep breath. When she approached him, all of the memories of their past lives flooded into the present moment and she felt as if nothing else existed.

She held out her hand with the locket and they opened it. They sat down facing each, legs criss crossed and started rocking their bodies. As they rocked, their breaths instantly became in sync with one another and they breathed deeply into all of their cells. They placed their left hands on each other’s hearts and held the open locket in their right hands between them. They started toning and as their voices merged they created a beautiful melody together while visualizing the crystalline silver lights from their hearts playing and dancing together. As their energies communed into a silver double helix, they channeled this creative spirit into the reflection of the locket.

Once twenty-two minutes had passed, they both closed their eyes, surrendered, and allowed all of the cultivated energy in the locket to be released and ripple out into their present reality. At this moment, they understood that in all of their past lives they had individually balanced each of their seven chakras and together activated them through their devotional practice at each of the sacred sites: the seven chakras of the earth.

A deep rumble reverberated throughout the city and the entire night sky became illuminated as a star fell and crashed into the earth as a gold electrifying lightning bolt. When Finn and Lily opened their mirrored eyes, drops of rain painted their faces as they smiled at each other, in awe of the miracle their love had manifested.
