“OOOOOi Regaz! And…Dopax? Wait you are here too?”

Venye shouted in a perplexed voice toward the two men standing atop the green hill.

“Dopax. They sent reinforcements quicker than I thought. Their numbers are within my estimations, but still, it’s getting a little dangerous there.”

Dopax stared in the direction of the two women closing in with a serene look on his face. Then, he proceeded to speak in a composed manner.

“It is alright. I came here to see how our fellow Dwellers fare on the battlefield. Plus, we already landed a massive hit on Aeldrutia and everybody’s soldiers. Its destruction is imminent.”

“Shall I fetch Yevin to inform the troops on the site to back off?”, Regaz posed as he looked at Dopax seemingly awaiting his command.

“Yes. However, tell him to instruct our troops to do so slowly. I want to see what they are made off.”

Regaz nodded and, in an instant, put his thumb and index finger in his mouth and whistled loudly. The ground below them then started to tremble a bit, and from its bowels, a young man with a hooded cloak surfaced at everyone’s position.

“Yevin, at your service! Did you call me Reg?”

“I want you to instruct our troops to fall back, but not in a rush. We also want to see how they will manage to defend themselves along with retreating.”

“Your wish is my command.”, said Yevin and immediately entered the hole he had made on the ground and dug like a mole at an incredible speed toward the city in flames.

“And now what? We just wait HERE?”, Venye said in a seemingly annoyed voice.

“There is another part in my plan, don’t you remember Milady?”

Venye grinned at Silgy’s answer.

“Oh the parting gift, as we call it?”

“Fuahaha! We wouldn't just come here to see our troops retreat. We also want to see her potential as well as them suffering an even greater loss if this plan works out.”, Regaz told as he was holding his belly with his hands like holding a big laugh from coming out.

“I am confident in her abilities.”

“There will be many Aeldrans caught in the trap, are you sure she will still pull through Dopax?”

“…Watch and you will find out…”

Everyone turned their sight toward the open space in the outskirts of the city where the Dwellers started to slowly head to, followed by an entire army of humans.

*Pant, Pant*

An out-of-breath girl quickly jumped with a grace maneuver to a bush nearby when she heard the stomping sounds getting closer. Her green eyes were giving away a brown color when mixed up with the nearby reddish flames, as she was scouting the area ahead of her.

Her head was covered with cinder-like medium-length hair and had two thin horns in a shape of a slide that protruded from her head and reached the height of her mouth.

“Am I really the appropriate person for such a mission? Hah… I bet Dopax is just testing my resolve despite having shown no sign of weakness. Or wait, have I given him the impression of being incompetent? Oh no…”

The girl then slightly hit her cheeks with her two open palms as if breaking her thinking process.

“Relax Lidua, this isn’t it and you won’t fail the mission so everything is ok! I think…”

Suddenly, she felt the ground below her shuttering and she noticed from afar a pile of moving dirt closing in her position. Then, Yevin emerged from the ground in front of Lidua.

“Lidua! What’s up, you good?”

“Haaah…Yevin now is not the time to chit-chat! I hear them getting close, let’s get the surface ready.”, Lidua said as she sighed.

“You anxious about our mission Lidua? Don’t you worry sweetheart, we will make them suffer as planned.”

“…”

Before Lidua uttered any other word, Yevin lifted his hands and then, like a maestro in a concert, threw them downward. The ground in the open area, following Yevin’s movement, caved in creating a big hole as a result.

“Ludia, you can proceed.”

“Let’s finish this and go home.”, she answered while raising her hands like trying to reach the smoky sky. On her palms, an enormous dark green ball was created and got thrown into the pit Yevin formed.

Then, Yevin closed the pit with a minimal amount of dirt and sat beside Ludia in the bush.

“Who will be the bait between us two?”, Yevin told while getting ready to lie down with his hands behind his head.

“Come on…I see you getting ready to relax and enjoy the view, so I get the feeling that I will be anyway.”

“We can still rock-paper-scissor it if you like, I don’t mind.”

“Haah…no, it’s alright. I was determined to see this through to the end anyway. Just help me untangle my horns from these branches.”

Ludia then tried to raise her body while waving her hands to try and break the branches tangled in her horns while some of these got melted in the process. Yevin did the same for her and then returned to his original relaxed position.

“They are all yours, mademoiselle.”

Then, Ludia rushed toward the pit and jumped over it, and continued her path toward the numerous soldiers fighting the Dwellers in the city districts before her. She then made a sign for them to follow her lead, slowly retreating to the open space while firing dark energy balls at the humans.

“Is that… GUYS we’ve got a catch here! An Aeldran Dweller is trying to get these bastards to leave while firing at us. Go kill them all!”

Everyone shouted in a manner trying to lift their spirits and marched in full throttle toward Ludia and her Dweller squad.

Ludia ordered her troops to split and abort fighting, while she reached the open area she was before and jumped near the bush Yevin was sitting in.

“Steady, steady,….”

Ludia unleashed a dark sphere to block the incoming attacks and took steps in the opposite direction as if trying to lure the human soldiers closer.

“GET HER!”

Suddenly, after they all rushed into the open space, a finger-snapping sound echoed in the area. Then, the ground below them caved in and every human fell inside the pit.

“You’re done for. HAHA!”, Yevin said while lying down, watching them all fall to their demise.

Screams and cries could be heard from the pit’s insides, as the soldiers’ flesh was slowly evaporating like water at high temperatures from the pool of acid laid out in the pit.

“I am sorry, everyone. But for the new world order to be established, you all must perish and let us, the new generation, handle the rest in a fairer and more equal way for all of us…”

As the agonizing screams started to die out, Ludia turned her back to the pit as her long cape was blown from the wind and together with Yevin climbed quickly the cliffs that led to Dopax and the others.
