Monty The Don

Dirty Crooks, Petty Thieves, and all you other

Rotten Scoundrels,

why are you seeking sanctuary behind the

skirts of the local Working Girls.

Claiming that all these girls are happy to

provide alibis,

when the truth is you must pay them enough,

before they`ll be happy to tell your lies.

But will these girls stick to the story, or

sell out to the highest bidder?

As maybe one, or even a few of you, will

find yourselves in trouble that`s much deeper.

For it`s less than forty-eight hours, since

something went terribly wrong,

as someone failed to take the life, of

the much-feared, Monty the Don.

Of Italian heritage, a traditional villain, cut

from an old-fashioned cloth.

And when setting out, to prove his worth,

he thought nothing, in cutting a man`s ear off.

1

Unashamedly battle-scared, he has literally,

fought his way to the top,

but now he`s there, there are grave concerns,

that he doesn`t know when to stop.

Was this the reason for the attack as he lay

on his prison bed?

All we know now, is that the attack failed,

as it`s not Monty who`s now lying dead.

As he wipes the blood from the would-be

assassin`s knife,

he couldn`t help but wonder, who would be

so treacherous, to attempt to end his life.

For the life that he has led, this plot could

come from quite a long list,

but first name to cross his mind, was the

bare-knuckle brawler, Freddie the Fist.

For Freddie truly believes that Monty still

owes him a huge debt from his last bout,

when as asked, he buckled in the ninth,

and then pretended to be counted out.

Then there`s Bobby the Bull, bitter rival villain,

throughout his criminal life.

2

It was a war that Monty eventually won, but

even then, he still just had to also take his wife.

So, with the word now out, everyone starts to

hide and flee,

as Monty seeks divine retribution and vows.

“Someone will answer to me.”

Two weeks pass, Dirty Crooks, Petty Thieves,

Rotten Scoundrels are still nowhere to be found.

As some of the Working Girls have been bought,

they`ve been forced deeper underground.

While Monty`s men and certain policemen that

he owns, continue to harass, and hound.

All determined to find the answer, that Monty

is desperate to be found.

Another week passes, frustrated, Monty is no

nearer to finding the truth,

as he then receives a visitor, in the shape of

his loving wife, Ruth.

“I came just as soon as I could, heard someone

tried to take your life.”

Ruth says, showing herself to be a caring and

devoted wife.

3

But Monty, was not in the least impressed. “It`s

been three weeks now since that took place,

and now you decide it`s finally time, for you

to show your face.”

Ruth then explains, “but it can take time for a

Visiting Order to come through.

So, all that I could do was sit and wait, as

there was nothing more to do.”

Begrudgingly, Monty finally accepts that she

just might be right.

For now, he allows himself just a little smile,

realizing that his wife is still a lovely sight.

But neither one could still figure out who

wanted him dead.

Even desperate enough to try as he lay in

the daytime, on his own prison bed.

Was the Bull behind the plot? Did the Fist

devise a plan?

The list of enemies is long, and every single

one, is classed as a dangerous man.

With grudges held and many wrong doings

that will never be forgotten.

4

There are many who admire Monty, but there

are many, who consider him plain rotten.

Ruth, was nothing but supportive, showering

him with love and compassion.

But Monty was plain dismissive, he just wanted

the culprit, so he could spring into action.

Ruth took this badly, as all she wanted to do,

was to show that she did care.

Yet, if all he wanted was a name, then she

had one, which made him stop and stare.

For the next thing that he knew, he was on

the floor, head bouncing off the deck.

Then in one swift movement, with her bare

hands, Ruth had snapped his neck.

Inmates were shocked, wives and girlfriends

screamed as Prison Officers, raised the alarm.

As Ruth just stood there, no one knowing, if

she meant anyone else any harm.

But her smile then said it all, there was no

reason for anyone else to run and hide,

as twenty plus years of anger and hatred, had

now been released from her deep inside.

5

She did not resist, as the Prison Officers then

took her away,

to her own prison cell where she was to stay,

for forever and a day.

Dirty Crooks, Petty Thieves and other Dirty

Scoundrels, please remember this.

Monty the Don maybe dead, but even

from her cell, be afraid of Ruth the Ruthless.
