A meeting

"Hey Teo, do you know the new guy on Campus?" A feminine voice whispered into a masculine ear.

"The one that always carries the Kendo stick on his left?" The young man asked suspiciously. "What about him, Kayla?"

"Yeah, why do you think he does so… I heard a rumor." She smirked before continuing, "it's supposed to be a memento from his old sensei…who was also his lover…OOOHH, doesn't that sound romantic." Kayla's honey eyes shone in delight as she envisioned her fantasy.

"Really, now?" Her sly companion answered with a smirk on his dark brown lips and a snicker. "I think you've been reading too much of those love manga you obsess about." Teo chuckled mirthfully as her face twisted in embarrassment. "I heard it's a family heirloom and supposedly signifies that he's the new head of his clan." He noted coolly as he leaned on the school wall, running his head through his raven black hair.

"That's ridiculous." Her melodic voice asserted as she pouted her bubble gum-colored lips before wiping the sweat off her chocolate forehead that hid behind the bang of her midnight hair that reached her mid-back.

"Not really…at least it’s better than your load of crap." Teo's crimson eyes hid his amusement as Kayla's eyebrow twitched with inner rage.

Kayla took a deep breath, and her eyes, which were once-promising death to her companion, were now relaxed and confident. "Whatever." She scoffed as she waved as if her hand was trying to brush him off.

"Well, it is better than the other rumors I heard." Teo declared truthfully.

"Oh yes…Those…"She injected with a sigh. " Like the one that stated he was being controlled by the spirit of an ancestor of his," Kayla mumbled before she sat on the ground beside him. Pulling her knees to the breast of her white blouse and placing her arms underneath her green skirt to prevent perverts from catching a peek.

"You shouldn't sit like that in a skirt," Teo advised without any actual care.

"Screw off."

"Anyway…I did hear about one. It's Humorous at best." The male noted as he placed his hazel-colored hands into the pockets of his black slacks. Lifting his left foot and placing his black Nike upon the wall, he continued. "There was also the one that states that he's a junior sensei at a Dojo." He gruffly spoke.

"Trying to look like a badass, standing like that?" accused the now vastly humored Kayla, as her counterpart's eyes widened in malice.

"You bitch." Teo calmly stated, trying to keep the image off having a non-existent amount of emotion.

Kayla cackled at the killing intent he was radiating.

She stopped and regained herself before responding to the main conversation. "I doubt he's a sensei…He doesn't seem to be that social." She assessed.

"Have you tried to speak with him?" He inquired.

"No…Not really." Kayla embarrassingly smiled.

"Then how can you make an assumption such as that!" He shot at her with an eye twitch.

"Well, I haven't seen him speak to anyone at all." She shot back ferociously.

"What are you, a stalker? Trying to be his paparazzi, perhaps?"

"What is this, an interrogation?"

"Yes, now answer!"

"Fine, I'm curious about him." She admitted with heated cheeks, "I mean, you don't hear a lot of rumors about other people, but this guy comes in with a kendo stick, and BOOM! He's the talk of the school. I want to know the truth about that kid and what is so important about that stick." She stated thoughtfully; her stare was a steel blade.

"Then why don't we ask him." Teo challenged with a glare.

She leaped up to her feet and brushed the back of her skirt off. "That's not a bad idea…Actually, it's downright excellent." Her voice was that of Mr. Burns from the Simpson's or a hammy evil video game character at the end of her comment.

"That started so sweet and charming at the beginning." Teo mused jesterly.

"Come on, I...Know where he is."

"Why?.. Was this some ploy to get me to come with you?"

"Nuff talking."She ordered as she grabbed her counterpart's hand with the grip of a bear trap and dragged him like a doll inside the study hall.

The two entered, and there, in the far back looking out the window, was the subject of their conversation. He was a sight to see in both of their eyes.

He had dark chocolate skin, which went well with his hair of powder snow in a fade cut. His eyes were miss-matched, his right being electric yellow and his left being an icy blue; his outfit was the same as her conversation partner, except for the sneakers he wore black and blue, and a dragon chain around his neck and of course.

His infamous Kendo stick on his left side.

The kendo stick itself was another sight to see. It was tall, about 35% percent shorter than its 5'10 owner. Made of dried bamboo, it had a very brownish-honey color, and its tip was a white leatherhead. In addition, it had three leather strips on the top, center, and bottom of the wooden blade. The hilt was made of gold, though, and on it was a dragon claw crest made of diamond. Both the owner and the weapon seemed to be unearthly as the spring sunlight bathed them gently.

As the two walked up to him, his left eye saw them from the corner. He grabbed his weapon and pointed out towards them without even batting an eye or turning to them.

"Let me guess you want to know why I carry the stick, right?" He stated in a voice that could be a summer breeze.

"Originally…" Kayla admitted as she placed her hand on the weapon, calmly pointed towards the floor. "But you, yourself, seem to be more interesting." She stated calmly.

Her cohort nodded in response. The snow-haired male tapped the desk to his left and in front of him, offering them both a seat.

"So let's begin…The reason why I carry Maru...My kendo stick with me is for four reasons…mainly." He paused for a moment sitting back, lifting one finger,

"The first one being it is one of three mementos from my parents; they died some years back…." He clicked his tongue before speaking again.

"They ran a shrine across town as well as a dojo…but a car accident cost them their lives and my eyes." He gave a saddened chuckle, "Luckily, I was able to get one of each of my parents. My right eye is my father's, and my left is my mother's." He noted calmly but with a source of pride in his belly, "saved my sight."

'I heard about that...It was all over the news four years ago.' Kayla mused, her eyes now on the lighter marred skin across his eyes.

"They used to be a deep brown."

Kayla's cheeks glowed, realizing that he caught her staring, "Umm, I'm sorry...That was rude of me..."

"No problem...Not the first who thinks my eye area is shocking and scary." The Snow hair teased.

"You're far from scary…" she assured, " but It is hard to turn away from...for favorable reasons."

"She thinks you're cute." Teo poked fun at her.

"I…" Kayla didn't bite back, opting to take a breath, " Please resume...."

He lifted another finger, chuckling a bit."The second reason being Mary is an emblem of marriage…you know how this school has different warrior families, and each family has a crest…Well."

He stopped and showed the hilt where his family crest, a scorpion wrapped around a crescent moon, resided. He then showed them the other side of the hilt, and there, placed in a slot, was a removable piece of gold.

"You could probably guess. So I won't go into it." He sighed, " Now, since my parents died, I am the head of the family, so my elders have been hounding me about the marriage thing." He stated calmly as the duo nodded in agreement.

"I know exactly what you mean." They spoke simultaneously in sympathy.

"The third reason is straightforward: to protect myself…." He rubbed his nape," people are intimidated by my appearance. So I carry Maru to fend myself when I happen to be messed with. I genuinely don't know the final reason why but I'm sure it'll reveal itself soon." He stated, looking at the female in the room who blushed a bit under his electric and fiery gaze.

Teo's companion chuckled a bit before sticking out his fist. "You seem like you're cool people." The male smirked gently. The snowed hair boy tapped his fist with his own, a smirk forming on his dark lips.

"As do you." Snow hair answered cockily. He then turned to the girl, who looked away with a pout and a blush; she folded her arms underneath her breasts, lifting a bit unconsciously.

"It's a real pleasure to meet you as well." He said, sticking his hand out to shake her hand. She did so. A bit reluctantly and still embarrassed, causing her cohort to laugh at her again.

"Shut up, bastard!" She stated before punching her counterpart in the back of his head. He cringed in pain as he rubbed his head.

"What the hell?" The red-eyed one said as he tended to his head. His companion was blowing her fist in pain. "

"Damn hard-headed!" She said in pain as she kissed her knuckles. Their new companion just shook his head with a satisfied smirk.

"So, what are your names?" He asked cheerfully, catching the two by surprise; he smirked a bit deeper at the expression.

"Teo Wanes...WaterTiger-tribe heir." Teo spoke calmly before snickering at the blushing and surprisingly shy girl.

"Kayla Zekia...Starhawk-tribe heiress." She bashfully expressed, holding out a hand to shake

"Davion Geniel...LunarScorpion-tribe heir

As they conversed and became more acquainted with each other, nobody seemed to realize that the kendo stick, known as Maru, was glowing a bit brighter in the sunlight
