A lovely mango tree formerly stood in an Indian village's modest yard. The mangoes that were produced by the old yet sturdy tree were the sweetest in the area. The tree was beloved by the locals, who frequently gathered there to rest, converse, and take advantage of the shade.

But one year the mango tree didn't produce any fruit. This scared and saddened the villagers. The tree had never before been empty of mangoes, according to them. To get the tree to start producing fruit once more, they tried everything they could think of. They gave it more frequent irrigations, fertilised it, and begged to the gods for a miracle.

But nothing appeared to be working. The villagers started to lose hope as the tree continued to be bare. A wise old man once visited the village. The villagers ran to him for assistance right once because of his reputation for being knowledgeable about plants and trees.

The old man gave the mango tree a close examination. He felt the branches and the trunk, even tasting the ground. He then addressed the villagers.

"This tree is not ill and it's not going to die. It's simply worn out "said he. "It requires a break because it has been producing fruit for a long time. You must give it time to rest if you want it to produce again."

This suggestion startled the villagers. They were unaware that trees required repose. The old man, though, insisted that it was real.

He said, "You must allow the tree time to regain its strength. "Give it a full year to rest. Avoid picking any mangoes, overwatering it, and pruning it. Simply let it be."

The locals were initially hesitant, but they eventually trusted the old man's wisdom. They agreed to take his suggestion, therefore the following year they didn't pluck any mangoes from the tree. They allowed it to grow wild and only watered it when it was necessary.

The mango tree gradually regained its strength as the year progressed. Its limbs lengthened, its trunk got thicker, and its leaves turned a deeper green. The villagers were in awe as they observed how the tree appeared to come to life.

The residents were curious to see if the tree would produce fruit once more when the following mango season arrived. They huddled together beside the tree and patiently waited. Then a wonderful event took place.

The mango tree started to produce fruit once more, and this time it was sweeter and more plentiful than before. The delighted villagers hailed the sage old man for his counsel.

They started treating the mango tree with the deference it deserved after that. They always made sure to give it the rest it required and never took its fruit for granted. The mango tree came to represent knowledge and endurance, and the villagers continued to tell its legend for many years.

Years later, Sita, a young villager, would frequently sit beneath the mango tree and gaze up at the lovely fruit that hung above her. When she closed her eyes, she would visualise herself devouring one of those sweet mangoes. She would have a tremendous desire to grab one of those mangoes and enjoy it, and her mouth would start to moisten.

But, she would then recall the parable of the mango tree and how it required rest in order to produce fruit. She would grin to herself and say, "I'll hold off. I'll allow the mango tree some time to relax so it may continue to produce the best mangoes for us the following season."

But the mango tree kept producing fruit year after year, teaching the people a valuable lesson about the value of perseverance and the significance of preserving nature. The mango tree continued to be a cherished feature of the community, and its memory endured.
