It was just a glimpse, that's all, just a flash of red hair and pale skin in a window. He would see her when he looked out his window from across the street not every time he looked outside but often enough that he came to feel comfort in catching a glimpse of her. It wasn't until recently when he passed next to her house on a walk that he saw the vibrant green of her eyes. Like every other time he saw her it was just a glimpse but she was so strikingly beautiful that he stopped walking.

He normally did not walk on the side of the street her house was on but he had just had an argument with his eldest brother on their way back from the club. His brother would not get off his back about what happened last marriage season. His brother still didn't understand that the scandal was not his fault that he believed himself in love with the girl and she lied to him. It was still a sensitive subject for him he was still trying to move on from the heartbreak and his brother would not let it go. He was lecturing him and telling him that he was still to green to be seriously considering marriage. As if he knew anything about love and marriage he was 32 and still raking around the ton. Though he had dreams of travelling he still wanted love, marriage, and family. He wanted to travel with the woman he loved but his brother refused to understand that and contiued to critisized him.

He was so angry with his brother that he just needed to get away so he crossed the street and started walking. He didn't have a plan or a destination he just started walking as far away as he could from his brother. It was only when he felt the hair on the back of his neck stand up that he looked up from the road. It was then that he caught a glimpse of her striking eyes of kaleidoscope green.

He was frozen in time as her gaze pierced his. The world around him melted away as he stared at her finally seeing her face in full. She was beautiful, she had strikingly elegant yet soft features. She had a natural flush on her cheeks that matched the shade of her lips. It was her simplicity and elegance that made her so alluring but it was her eyes that truly drew him in. There was a depth that he could not decipher. Was it sadness, desperation, melancholy? Whatever it was did not matter all he knew was that he wanted to bring light back into her emerald eyes. He wanted to erase the sadness from her face and replace it with a smile so grand that it hurt her cheeks. He wanted to be the one to restore happiness into her eyes.

Then she vanished from view and he let out a breath he did not know he was holding. It had felt like a lifetime was passing as he held her gaze but in reality, it was only a few seconds. Those few seconds that he saw her rid him of the anger that engulfed him only moments ago. It was then that he knew that she would have a great impact on him. It was then that he knew that he had to meet her, speak with her, dance with her at a ball. This of course reminded him of the fight he just had with his brother and what his brother might say if he knew what he was thinking and feeling in that very moment. So with the memory of her gaze in his mind he contiued his walk to cool down before returning to his family home.
