Hope to fix A Broken World
To Always Believe in a Better Future
It has been over a year since all of humanity had taken a downward turn for the worst. When there were people living their average day to day lives. Children who would
go to school & play outside, are all stuck cowering inside their homes & businesses watching demons fly in the dark crimson skies hunting for victims to sacrifice to
their higher ups. Truly the worst that Hell has in its depths, lead by their wicked king, that some call Beelzebub, others say it's truly Satan himself. But in our group
we just call this giant abomination, The End. The End emerged from within the Earth after a volcanic eruption occurred out of nowhere hidden inside the Atlantic Ocean
on a newly formed island that the local mariners that are either brave or stupid enough to travel that far out call the Burning Graveyard due to the corpses amassed
around the volcano that The End is trapped inside. The theory of our expert 29 year old philosophical researcher Leah, who has studied every form of religion in the
world, hypothesizes that once The End has consumed enough sacrifices that it will be able to escape the volcano & freely destroy anything & everything it wishes.
Calling on the lesser demons that have been roaming freely in the world since his arrival to gather anyone unfortunate enough to be dragged there either by the flying
pterodactyl like monsters or dredged through the ocean by something you'd see lurking out of the swamps. But that's where our group comes in, to find a way to kill
The End once & for all & save the people the demons try to take for sacrifice, We have myself, 29 year old Bailey Parker, former salesperson turned somebody just trying
to save the world. my older brothers 30 year old Avery who helped design the weapons that actually kill the monsters & 31 year old Frederick, the muscle of our group
that fortunately was a bodybuilder before Hell broke loose on the world. alongside them we had our researcher & my best friend Leah Whittaker who held onto a heart
locket I got her for her 18th birthday. 33 year old James Martin, a friend of ours from church who lost his wife & son to the first wave of monsters & was unable to help
them due to his work as a firefighter keeping him preoccupied during the attack, 28 year old Olivia Strong, Avery's girlfriend & an engineer that designed defense gear
for Avery's boat & my van to keep us from becoming rotting demon chow on the Burning Graveyard & my neighbor 32 year old Harley Goldberg a cosmetologist that came up
with a way for us to camouflage from the roaming monsters. In the past month, we've managed to save many people that have been attacked by demons & the raiders that
revel in the ensuing chaos & taking anything that they want which Frederick & James usually deal with while Avery & Olivia relocate the people that end up caught up
in the crossfire. While they work on that, Harley, Leah & I try to look for a method to return things to the way they were before the demons started busting out of the ground
& get rid of The End once & for all. Usually finding answers from people from each of the raids we end up saving. Most end up believing it's all hopeless trying to
fight for a normal world again, but some prove to have some good advice. "The Devil can be destroyed by the power of prayer." an old woman tells us. "Only the Pope knows
the way to put Beelzebub back into Hell." a man says. With each piece of information, Leah & I put the pieces together & after weeks of research in the journals she preserved
we have found a possible answer. "Well the Pope would be the only one to know this." Leah says to the group after hours of flipping through her textbooks until finding
a painting of a fountain & explains. "This is a fountain that was blessed as the first source of holy water. If we can get the water reblessed & running out to sea. It may be able
to kill The End." Leah says excited at the thought of this being the key to making things right. "So no epic final battle between man & demon?" Avery asks with disappointment
in his voice. "Babe if it saves the world, it doesn't matter how it's done. You'll be a hero when everything's over with." Said Olivia helping Avery feel better at
the idea of everything returning to normal. "Yeah I'd rather do some ancient plumbing job then have one of those freaks the size of a mountain crush me like a bug." James
says more concerned about everyone's lives then being remembered as some badass going out in a blaze of glory for his family. "So where is this thing exactly Leah? Guessing
like the Vatican or Romania?" I ask somewhat doubtful due to the potential difficulty of the task ahead. "Good news for us there actually Bailey. As part of a historical
survey that took place before The End appeared, they had all sorts of religious objects on a museum tour. Starting in the Metropolitan Museum in New York." Leah explains
showing a map of their current location in Surf City North Carolina. After gathering up all our equipment & Leah's journals. We set off on our day long trip to reach the
fountain. Along the way, speeding away from demonic dragons in Virginia, fighting off sea creatures in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland & sneaking away from gargoyles stalking
us in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We finally reach New York City & just beyond the horizon, miles out at sea. We see the Burning Graveyard & The End, feeling like
he's staring into our very souls as we cross the George Washington Bridge. "You know despite that thing trying to kill us all. It would make an awesome mural." Harley
says taking a picture of the giant demon with her phone. We reach the road the museum is on, when Leah clutches the heart shape locket around her neck & looking over at me
with hope in her eyes. When we look & see several demons hovering around the museum as if knowing that the one thing that will kill them all is there. "Oh Yeah!!!
Epic Final Battle!" Avery shouts in sheer joy. "We'll deal with the freaks. Bailey, you & Leah try to get that fountain going. Let's end this." Says Fredrick parking
the van. Leah & I bust out the back of the van with Harley behind us holding her phone recording the whole situation while everyone else charges in guns blazing, taking
out any of the little demons in sight when we reach the museum & Harley turns back. "Harley, what are doing? Let's go!" I shout while Harley holds her phone still recording
"I'm just gonna get Avery his dream moment." Harley says jokingly. "I think you got it. Now hurry!" Leah exclaims taking Harley by the hand dragging her into the museum.
Reaching the exhibit & finding the fountain. I do everything I can to turn it on, only getting a tiny stream flowing out from it, the water leaking into a nearby sewer grate. "Well not what I was hoping for amount wise but now we just need the water blessed."
Leah says inspecting the water. "Yeah I'm sure we can pull a priest out of thin air." Said Harley sarcastically. "James is a deacon. He can bless the water." I say running to grab James from the fight outside which leads the demons inside.
With one targeting Leah which causes me to lash out & stab the monster with a dagger from the exhibit. Leah in stunned disbelief kisses me in the heat of the moment. After a few minutes, James blesses the water, causing the sky above us to turn
its natural serene blue, shining with the sun causing the demons to crumble into dust & causing The End & the Burning Graveyard to sink into back the ocean. Returning the world
to a better future when me & my friends look out at the damaged city around us. "This place really needs a fix up." Leah says kicking rubble over with her foot. "Well,
it's not gonna fix itself." James says looking out happily as if his family is looking down at him smiling. "He's right. Let's keep making a better future." I say as
we all walk the street to see who needs help.
THE END.
