People
To our "brothers & sisters" in the field, putting their lives before our own; either on the battlefield of foreign countries or at home on the streets to keep us safe from enemies both foreign and domestic; and, to their kin working night and day to keep us healthy.
Lest we not forget, the special cadre of trained professionals, that work many sleepless nights and days, keeping our countries safe and operating smoothly so we may sleep soundly, with a roof over our heads, and food on our tables.
To our fellow Vocal creators lending assistance in developing this story, Melissa and Graham say thank you for your guidance and support, especially Lisa Gerard Braun without whom a key component of story development could not be continued from Chapter 10 and beyond.

Preface
Though the Grey Mane series, Book 1, started out as a singular, conceptual effort by the one author Graham Cooke, he quickly realized that to develop a seriously interesting and engaging series of chapters, a collaborative effort would be required. The idea for collaboration on another work was originally proposed by Melissa Ingoldsby and Graham decided to ask if she’d be interested in collaborating on this project. It was almost akin to Melissa jumping through a computer monitor when she accepted the offer and henceforth the work continued.
Then, as work progressed, with positive and creative feedback from other Vocal platform creators, it became apparent that the collaboration effort need not be restrained to just two Vocal creators authoring different chapters throughout Book 1. Other creators are continuously being sounded for feedback on the story and presently, Melissa and Graham are happy to welcome the guidance of Lisa Gerard Braun in developing character and content development for the remainder of the collaborative series of chapters from Chapter 10 onwards.
It is hoped for future books in the Grey Mane adventure series that other Vocal creators accept an opportunity to join in the collaboration effort for the continuation of developing engaging entertainment for our readers.

About the Authors
Melissa Ingoldsby - Vocal Library
Melissa Ingoldsby, a. stay-at-home mother of two, absolutely in love with cinema and writing, currently writes science, beat and pop culture articles, and short stories and poetry on the online media publishing platform Vocal. She also loves writing in the romance and horror genres too, sometimes mixing the two into one.
Graham Cooke - Vocal Library
Graham Cooke (full history), a retired electrical engineer, still actively working as a contract technical writer, editor and content developer, has taken a leap backward into creative writing which he loves, focussing in the genres of adventure, post-apocalyptic and science fiction. He also continues his writing of technical gear reviews online for his many other fields of expertise.

Authors' Final Note:
Dear reader, if you like this work of ours, we would sincerely appreciate you letting us know by selecting the Heart icon below. As to Tips, which requires you to be a Vocal member or have a Stripe account:
We leave it to you about using the tipping feature in Vocal. We don't believe anyone ever passes up free money.😂 So, if you'd like to direct a tip to any particular author, you can do so by selecting their Library link and tip there.
Since we write in many genres attempting to add our own personal nuance to the genres in which we write, you may be interested in other works of ours, especially here on Vocal. There are three ways of navigating to and (or) retain a list of our Vocal creations:
- All present works written on the Vocal media platform are stored on Vocal in a multiple indexed library, with one index for each author summary page, with the author name attached to it. Select the name back in the "About the Authors" section or shown at the page bottom where you are reading (after scrolling down) and you will be redirected to that summary page. No; nothing nefarious will occur when you "click" on the text.
- Now, you can, if you so wish to return to an author's Vocal Library index page, just bookmark it in your internet web browser.
- However, should you want to be kept up-to-date on newer Vocal creations of ours, instead of manually having to find and select that browser bookmark every time for any one Vocal creator's, i.e. author's, summary page, you can subscribe to their Vocal publishing feed. By selecting the author's Subscribe button, you become subscribed to their Vocal feed of new creations and existing library of which you have not yet read. It also increases the Vocal creator's subscription count and lets the author know they are being appreciated for their efforts on Vocal. However, you have to be a Vocal member first. So, we leave it to you to decide upon that; see the following.
NOTE: If you're not already a member - free or paid - of Vocal, maybe you might like to become one. Vocal has many different "communities" where authors, musicians, photographers, videographers, and artists of all genres can get their story told, and a vast repository of informative and entertaining stories are available for reading.
We hope you enjoy the story!
