What Could be Watching

While weeding a garden, a gardener finds some exquisite marigolds that were a soft gold that turned into a fiery red. Admiring the flowers, she reaches out and gently caresses the flower's buds. Watching as the light mildew from the dawn glistened in the morning sun. Slowly taking her hand away, she began to weed again. Being careful to not accidentally pull any of the flowers and plants that she had planted.

Not paying attention to anything else other than the task at hand, a little humanoid creature was watching her intently. Curious as to what this large creature was doing, and why was it disturbing the plants. Slowly, it would flap its wings just enough to gain some air, and then glide over to get a closer look to what this creature was doing. Tilting its head to peak from behind a leaf, it continued to watch. Its deep purple eyes mesmerized by this giant.

Eventually the gardener was finished and started to clean up the area she was weeding. Bringing the weeds towards where she keeps her compost. Throwing the weeds in there, she turned on her heel and headed towards the house to get her watering bucket, humming a light little tune.

Though to her little follower, it was definitely loud to her little ears. Yet, her humming was still enjoyable to listen to. As they go up the steps of the home, there was a light growl coming from the house. The little human stopped, eyes widened. Remembering the sound of the feline, she hopped out of the home and flew onto the top of the house.

The gardener heard her cat growling and picked up the feline. Stroking its fur, she looked at the direction the cat's eyes were fixated at. She saw something fly up, but thought of it as a humming bird. Especially with how fast it flew and the hum of its wings. Not realizing that it was the little humanoid creature she had actually seen.

Setting the cat down, she turned back around and finished getting the water ready. She sighed slightly as she was looking out the window while the flower water bucket filled up. Looking down to see how far the water bucket had filled, her cat walked outside, looking around. The small creature was peeking from the rooftop, keeping an eye on the cat. Then felt a tap on her shoulder.

“Frey, you know we are not to be by the humans. What if she saw you?” Another humanoid creature said behind her.

“Lin, I know but it was interesting to watch as she was pulling those plants and I became fascinated by her.” Frey said as she turned around to look at Lin.

Smiling, she gave Lin a hug as both of their wings hummed slightly. Then she let go and tilted her head to the side.

"What are you doing here?" Frey asked.

"Well, I was watching you," Lin said, looking away, pouting her lips.

Chuckling, Frey took Lin's hand and led her to look down below. "See that feline, I've noticed it doesn't seem to like us too much. It always growl when it sees me." Frey said, watching the cat.

"It's the humming from our wings, I think it hurts the feline's ears." Lin said.

Then below, the gardener comes out, carrying her bucket of water. She huffed slightly as she started to pour water onto the flowers. Frey becoming curious again, glided down to a tree to get a better look at the gardener. Lin giving a huff, but then follows Frey. Leaning her back against the branch after she landed, and crossed her arms, irritated.

"Frey, lets go back home, away from this human. She'll probably do something horrible to us if she were to see us."

"Like what?"

"I dunno, it's just that the humans seem to not like us, and they've done weird things to us, the fae." Lin whispered, "Also you should know all that by now." She hissed.

Frey shrugged her shoulders and looked back down to the human. Watching as she waters all the plants. Then kneeling back down to get any other weeds out of her garden. As she stands back up, Frey decides to fly towards her, and stops at the woman's face. She waved her hand as the gardener gasps and falls backwards. Her hands inches away from smashing into the marigolds that she had caressed earlier. The gardener rubbed her eyes in disbelief, and Lin was holding her breath, seeing what Frey had done.
