Paul's Secret

Paul and Reeves are the main singers of the "Blue Sky" group. After years of hard work, they finally made their own way in the music world. After becoming famous, Reeves continued to devote himself to their music career, while Paul contracted drugs. Soon he was in debt and his health was not as good as before. Under pressure, Paul tried to quit drugs many times, but he was always unable to escape the temptation.

Drug addiction is like the devil, forcing Paul to use a bad brain: he thinks that he is the core character of the "Blue Sky" group, but he and Reeves get the same amount of money. If he and Reeves parted ways, with his strength, he could also gain a foothold in the music world. And in this way, his income will definitely double. However, they have signed a long-term contract with the record company. If they unilaterally tear up the contract, they will definitely face huge compensation. How can they break up the group without compensation? He can't think of any way.

One day, Paul was addicted to drugs and lay comfortably on the sofa. He picked up a copy of "Exploring Rock Island" and flipped it casually. Suddenly, a detail in the book locked his eyes: the explorer accidentally ingested a poisonous weed on the desert island, and after a few days, he lost his voice! Paul's mind turned: as long as Reeves ate this poisonous weed without knowing it, his wish to fly alone can be realized!

Soon, Paul persuaded Reeves, and the two flew a private jet to Rock Island.

Rock Island is indeed a good place to vacation: the beach, grass, bushes, and woods are lined up in steps from the seaside to the center of the island, which is simply amazing! Reeves was so excited like a child that he repeatedly exclaimed: "This is really God's arrangement!"

Seeing that it was getting late, the two quickly set up their tent and began to make a fire to cook. Seeing that Reeves was preparing food, Paul said, "I'll leave it to you here, I'll find some dry wood!" After saying that, he got up and walked into the distance.

Paul knew that the kind of poisonous grass that can make people silent likes the shade and is afraid of the sun, and usually grows under big trees. So, he went straight into the woods in the heart of the island.

It was almost dusk, but the light was still sufficient. Paul widened his eyes and searched carefully in the woods, and sure enough, he found a poisonous weed described in the book! Paul suppressed his excited heartbeat, carefully squeezed the sap of the poisonous weed into the bottle that had been prepared long ago, then picked up a few dry branches and went back.

Reeves had already made dinner and was waiting for Paul to come back. Paul dropped the dry branch, sat down on the picnic cloth, took the soup bowl handed by Reeves, and the two of them ate together.

While eating, Paul accidentally spilled the soup on his body. He slapped his clothes in embarrassment and said annoyed, "It's really careless, man, can you go get me a towel and wipe it?" Seeing this, Reeves put down the soup bowl., got up and walked towards the tent.

As soon as Reeves entered the tent, Paul immediately took out the bottle in his pocket and poured the green juice into Reeves' bowl. It was not until the last drop of liquid fell into the bowl that he sat back in place with confidence. There was an imperceptible smile on the corner of his mouth.

After a while, Reeves came back with a towel and a bundle of beer: "Let's have a good drink today!" After saying that, he sat down and picked up his bowl again...

Looking at Reeves' sincere smile, Paul felt a trace of guilt in his heart: Is it too cruel to do this?

  Countered

The night was getting late, but Paul and Reeves were in high spirits. As they drank, they played their guitars and sang old songs from their debuts. The song drifted on the desolate island, with an indescribable smell.... until their tongues were knotted, the two staggered and supported each other back to their respective tents. Soon Paul heard Reeves snoring, but he couldn't sleep himself. Thinking of the years of hard work, without the joint efforts of the two of them, it would be impossible to have today's glory with the strength of one person alone; thinking of the grief-stricken appearance after Reeves lost his voice, he actually regretted it., my heart became uneasy, and it was not until the second half of the night that I fell asleep in a daze.

Early in the morning, while Paul was still sleeping, he was awakened by a loud roar. He rubbed his sleepy eyes, walked out of the tent and looked, and couldn't help but be shocked: Reeves was launching the helicopter!

No, the two clearly agreed that they would spend a few more days on Rock Island! An ominous premonition crossed Paul's mind. He was shocked, woke up, and immediately strode in the direction of the helicopter, shouting as he ran, "Reeves, stop!"

But the plane didn't mean to stop at all, but was accelerating into the sky. Paul ran forward desperately, jumped and grabbed the landing gear. He shouted loudly: "Reeves, are you crazy?"

Reeves looked down at him and sneered: "Brother, the environment here is beautiful and no one interrupts, it is very suitable for creation! You can stay here to write songs, I will pick you up in a few days!"

"Reeves, please take me back, I don't want to stay here!" Paul pleaded repeatedly. As he spoke, the helicopter was flying higher and higher. Paul grabbed the landing gear tightly, but he didn't let go. Seeing this, Reeves shouted viciously, "If you don't let go, I'll be polite!" Saying that, he stretched out his foot and stomped hard on Paul's hand! Paul finally let go with a "ouch" and fell straight from the air several meters high, falling heavily to the ground, unconscious...

When Paul woke up, Reeves and the helicopter were long gone. He staggered to his feet and stumbled to Reeves' tent. When he looked closely, the useful things were gone, only a lost shirt. Paul picked up the shirt to bandage the wound, but saw a piece of paper falling from his shirt pocket. When he picked up the piece of paper, he couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat: it was a copy of an insurance policy that said "Insurance Amount: 1 million; Policyholder: Paul; Beneficiary: Reeves".

Immediately, Paul's body softened, which really answered the old saying: count yourself! He was deliberately trying to get rid of the "burden" of Reeves, but in the end he fell for his trick and became the victim of his insurance fraud!

Paul was almost desperate. He wanted to kill himself several times, but when he thought of Reeves, the thought of this closest partner driving him to a dead end, he gritted his teeth with hatred! He secretly made up his mind that no matter what, he must walk out of Rock Island alive to find Reeves, and must not let his conspiracy succeed!

There are wild fruits and vegetables on the island, which can be used to fill the stomach, and it is not difficult to survive; the real challenge is the kind of headache and splitting torture when drug addiction strikes...

Two years have passed, and Paul has almost become a savage: he is unkempt, ragged, and almost lost the ability to speak! During this period, planes flew over the island many times, and Paul set fire to call for help, but they all failed. It was not until one day that a ship passed by Rock Island that Paul was discovered.

  Unexpected answer

Returning to the familiar city, Paul immediately began to look for Reeves. One day, he passed a downtown area and saw a beggar begging from passersby. Paul couldn't help but stand still, he thought the man's figure and demeanor were very familiar. He stepped forward, grabbed the beggar's collar, and took a closer look: Isn't this Reeves? At this time, all the resentment poured out together, and Paul punched Reeves in the face without saying a word...

Strangely, Reeves did not fight back. Seeing that Paul's mood had calmed down, he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, took out a crumpled letter from his underwear pocket, and handed it to Paul.

Paul gasped, glared at him, grabbed the letter, and saw that it read:

  Dear Paul:

I know you will definitely come to me, and by the time you read this letter, you should be completely detoxified. A few years ago, our career finally improved, but you contracted drugs, and for this, I was deeply saddened. I consulted with doctors and they said that only by keeping drug addicts away from familiar environments can you successfully detox! So, my plan is to keep you on Rock Island, completely cut off from drugs - instead of letting you spoil yourself like this, it's better for you to quit drugs and return to the stage.

Considering your personal safety, I bought an insurance for you. I know that you are a very vengeful person. So, I deliberately left a copy of the contract on the island and changed the name of the beneficiary from your family to me. The purpose is to make you hate me. In this way, the desire for revenge will sustain you to live!

After buying you insurance, I am destitute. I thought I could make a living by continuing to sing, but I thought that after returning from Rock Island, I lost my voice inexplicably...
