As I sat across from my friend at the café, my mind churned with frustration and hurt. Why hadn't she told me about going on a date with my ex? I couldn't comprehend how she could keep something like that from me. Despite my reluctance to be there, I was determined to confront her and demand an explanation.

"Look," I said, my voice edged with tension, "I need to know why you went on a date with my ex without telling me. It's not okay."

My friend's expression shifted from casual to bewildered in an instant. "What are you talking about?" she asked, her brow furrowing.

I felt my anger rise. How could she play dumb? "Don't act innocent," I snapped. "I know you went out with him. Why would you do that to me?"

She shook her head, her eyes wide with surprise. "I swear, I haven't seen your ex in years," she insisted. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

I stared at her, disbelief coursing through me. Had I imagined the whole thing? The memory felt so vivid, so real. But as my friend continued to deny any involvement, doubt began to creep in.

Then, in a moment of clarity, it hit me. I had dreamt the entire scenario. The anger, the hurt, the accusation—it had all been a figment of my imagination.

"I... I think I may have dreamt it," I admitted sheepishly, feeling a flush of embarrassment color my cheeks.

My friend's eyes widened in understanding, and then she burst into laughter. "You had me worried there for a minute," she chuckled, shaking her head. "I can assure you, I have never gone on a date with your ex."

Relief flooded through me, mingled with a sense of foolishness. How had I let a dream stir up such intense emotions? But as we laughed together, the tension dissipated, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and understanding.

In the end, my friend's patience and reassurance helped me see past the irrationality of my emotions. And while it may have been a false alarm, the experience served as a reminder to approach situations with a clearer mind and a lighter heart. After all, sometimes reality can be stranger—and less dramatic—than our dreams.
