Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. There were many screams as the first astronauts sought to land on Dimoono. Like ships lost at sea seeking the New World, many astronauts were lost trying to land on a planet with a similar atmosphere to Earth. Explosions, crashes, and lack of oxygen were just some of the causes of death in the vacuum of space. Twenty years and sixty-four astronauts would pass. The efforts would be beyond what the first settlers of the New World could have ever imagined. Many light years away Dimoono was found.

Dimoono’s defining characteristic that separates it from Earth is a sight to behold at night, Rivers have tides that split them dry in the middle; oceans have waves caused simply by gravity, for Dimoono has two moons, Adams in the eastern sky and Svalt in the western sky. Each moon was named for its discoverer.

Once Earth started flooding as it continued to warm, space travel became the priority for the brightest minds. However, transporting ten billion people is hard for people even fifty years ago to imagine, but shortly after the first successful landings on Dimoono, a breakthrough in teleportation allowed almost everyone to survive the mass exodus from Earth, much to the chagrin of the Forced Evolution Alliance.

The Forced Evolution Alliance was a political party, idea, or group in many places and was able to put many powerful politicians in place throughout Earth, hoping to gain the authority to pick who would be on the spaceships heading to Dimoono. Would most settlers be of one nationality? Would only one eye color, hair color, or skin color be represented? Or would only those inhabitants of Earth with a certain IQ or age be the ones to board spaceships to Dimoono. The Forced Evolution Alliance hoped to determine the answers to those questions. Therefore, the covert research into teleportation saved the general population.

The Italians are still mocked for the lack of originality in naming the planet, but the Italians were also the ones that exposed the Forced Evolution Alliance, which meant naming rights to the new planet were the least humanity could do.

In early 2075, efforts had begun to hold trials and incarcerate members of the Forced Evolution Alliance. Having failed at their goal, the members of the Alliance tried their best to blend into the new society. Some members were too addicted to power to change their ways and began a secret society seeking to regain power and form new governments suitable to their desires.

Despite its strange tides and haunting waves when there was no wind, Dimoono had some advantages on Earth. It was larger, had more land mass, more fresh water, and unadulterated soils and natural resources. In short, it was everything its new inhabitants needed and much better than what they were used to. However, the former inhabitants of Earth had already destroyed one planet. What would be different about this opportunity?

John Steven Adams, his skin as dark as the night on Earth in a new moon, was lit up by the two moons of Dimoono. His onyx skin and last name the same as his father’s, Steven John Adams, the discoverer of the eastern moon. John Steven was resting in his kayak. However, the gravity of the two mooms pushed him side-to-side without any movement from his oars, despite the calm winds. John Steven hoped to be famous for more than his father’s name one day. Setting up a new planet with another planet’s existing population seemed impossible. Power plants needed to be built, wells needed to be dug, hospitals needed to treat those with prior ailments, and scientists needed to learn everything they could about this new planet.

About six months into the transition, humanity was proving its resilience, and Dimoono was proving its bounty. Then one day, a select percentage of Dimoono’s inhabitants began to have health complications. John Steven Adams sat in his kayak preparing for his press conference the next morning, when he would drop a bombshell on everyone’s new paradise. There was a new element in the atmosphere. In its natural state, approximately .2% of the population could not handle it. After announcing this and creating panic, John Steven would not announce the most disturbing information. The Forced Evolution Alliance had found a way to weaponize the new element. Most importantly, and John Steven’s ticket to true fame, he had found a way to protect the .2% and those targeted by the weaponized version. The problem lie in the growing influence of the Forced Evolution Alliance and their attempts to discredit him.
