You’re in. You can see the goal before you: a diamond the size of your fist. It’ll set you up for a lifestyle that you’ve never imagined. It’s just sitting there, behind a few small metal bars and a bit of glass, shimmering. Shimmering at you.

Feeling that it’s all to simple, you glance around. There has to be a trap, or an alarm, or something somewhere. Sure enough, you see a slim wire leading out from the lock on the display box. With a slight smile you pull out your tools, expertly snip the wire without a sound.

Next, the lock. You fiddle with your tools and in moments feel the spring release. The lid of the box squeaks slightly. As you snatch the diamond into your sack you realise your mistake: A pressure plate underneath your goal. It triggers as you pick up the diamond.

Steel plates slam down in the doorways around the display box, trapping you. At the same time a warbling alarm sounds elsewhere in the building. You see an exit: A grate in the wall.

You pull the grate behind you as you make your way through the building’s crawlspaces and out into freedom.

Great heist. I bet they are waiting for you at the exit point, guns drawn, handcuffs dangling. Or you got away with it. Hope you did.
