He never made it to the diner.

You think I pushed him in front of a bus, or stabbed him in his femoral artery and twisted the blade. Don't you?

Pfft! That's the mistake everyone makes with fat people. They assume we're dull. They underestimate us.

I swear to you on my soul, or what's left of it, that I, Moira Bentley, did not kill the obnoxious and arrogant Mike-in-Accounts shortly after 5PM last night.

"It's quickest this way," I said, striding into an alley. He looked uncertain, but it's quite amazing what unexpected confidence can do to bend other people's wills to your own.

Once out of sight of any passers-by, I rounded on him, using surprise and sheer size to pin him against the grubby wall, my mouth boring down on his. One hand pressed to his chest, and the other in his hair, sparing an almost-tender moment before I curled my fist tight, tweaking some sandy curls loose.

I watched the shock on his face congeal into horror, confusion, revulsion, panic. I savoured each one like bites from a mezze. I darted my tongue into his mouth, playing chicken with his teeth. He gathered himself and shoved at me roughly.

I fell back. Laughing, breathless, and deliciously warm. Watching him scrub me from his lips with his sleeve.

I eyed him shrewdly.

"HR won't care you know, " I told him. "We're off the clock and off the premises. But anyway, I know you won't tell anyone. For three reasons: One, no one will believe you. Two: how would you tell it? That you kissed a fatty, or that you were bested by a girl?"

I smiled, wider and wider until it felt like my face might crack with it, and left him there, gawping. Maybe he thought that the end of it.

Silly mouse.

I walked to the diner, still smiling. Pushed into its welcoming warmth, placed an order of two slices of chocolate fudge cake to go, and tucked the squidgy parcels into my handbag.

My reflection in the bus windows showed a grin that belonged on a snake about to dislocate her jaw.

And three, because you'll be dead.

Thank you for reading! Please leave a comment so I can reciprocate. If you enjoyed it, the best compliment you can give me is to share it, or read another.

The story behind the story: This story follows on from A Cock About to Cro-. You might have guessed by now, that's "croak", not crow. IE. die. We are not done with Moira yet. She's fascinating to me, and I had to poultice her out of my head so I could get to sleep.

I'm writing a story every day this year. This one makes a 17 day streak. You can find all of them in my Index post, which I'll link to below. It's also pinned to the top of my profile.

If you're joining me on this "story every day" adventure, please leave a link in the comments. Whether you're on a creative bent, like me, and writing mostly microfiction/stories, or whether you have your own, self-imposed criteria, I'd love to see what you come up with for today. I'll try to come back and edit this to link to your piece at the bottom.

Edit - oops, forgot to put a caption on my cover pic! I made it with AI, because I couldn't find what I wanted on Unsplash. Maybe I'm getting too picky.

ETA - Here is Rachel's piece for the 17th!

Lol, I did not see that coming. Looks like she’s desperate for affection as well, her creepy smiles tells me she may have a screw loose herself.

Revenge is best served cold. So I gotta go read the other cock story, but rooting for Moira.

I’m intrigued to see how this will go. The assault scene certainly left me feeling uncomfortable and disturbed, so that was well done. I’m just curious to see how Moira is going to take care of Mike by the end of this story.

Hehehe, this feels devilish. I’m intrigued for more of Moira! That assault scene was icky; perfectly written!

  • Caroline Craven6 months ago

Ha! I’m a big fan of Moira. For some reason I have a picture of Melissa McCarthy in my head - how gutsy and obnoxious she is in Spy or The Heat. Looking forward to the next episode!

Just like the Spanish inquisition, I wasn't expecting that.

    Very clever!

Oh this was awesome! You went and tricked me into thinking that she was actually going to eat him lol. You sneak such and such <3 Loved her actions against that prick! (in fiction of course, been on the receiving end of that before and... not fun lol) I can't wait to see what happens to Moira next!

    Hmm, so is she venomous?
