Friday, June 13th. It’s a great day for a weekend at Camp Crystal Lake. At least a group of four friends think so. Nick and Alice and Sean and Amy are headed to the camp for a weekend of summer fun. As they all ride down in their van they discuss how much they’re looking forward to their summer weekend.

“Whoo I can’t wait to work on this tan” said Amy with sarcastic joy. “Well I think it’s safe to say we all could use a little vacation away from college life.” said Sean in a positive tone as he drove the van. “So where is this place we’re headed to?” Alice asked. “It’s called Crystal Lake, babe.” Nick replied. “It used to be an old summer camp for kids back in the day, that was until the accident.” “What accident?” Amy asked. “Oh dude, not this again.” Sean chuckled. “They’re not actually gonna believe it.” “I bet they’ll buy it.” Nick responded. “Buy what?” Alice asked curiously.

“Well-” Sean began. “A long time ago there was a boy who went to this camp named Jason. He was like autistic or a mongoloid or something. He drowned at the camp lake because the counselors weren’t watching him. Sometime later his mother went crazy and killed some of the counselors, but then a soul survivor killed her and got away. Since then they say Jason has returned from his grave and he preys on anyone who dares to set foot on his resting ground.”

As Sean concluded his story the rest of his friends shrugged of his tale unfazed. “Dude you actually believe that?” Nick asked rolling his eyes. “What part of it is so unbelievably Nicky boy? Sean rebuttaled. “It’s not ghost, ghouls or goblins. It’s an actual family of people who were done wrong and felt this was the best way to lash out.” “Yeah, by becoming murderous psycho paths? That’s definitely frontier justice for you.” Amy replied sarcastically.

“To be honest…” Nick began. I believe the part about the Jason kid drowning and his mom goin crazy. I mean, that is an actual documented crime, I looked it up, but the whole thing about Jason being this wilderness zombie who wakes up from his grave to “punish” anyone who comes to the camp grounds is a little far fetched to me.”

“I get you there.” Sean replied. “Yeah, wouldn’t they have recovered his body anyway?” Alice asked. “Well it is procedural.” Nick began. “But legend has it, they never found Jason’s body and that’s why do many people believe in the legend that he’s still out there.”

The quartet briefly sat in a collective silence thinking about the potential validity of the legend. As they ruminated on their discussion, Camp Crystal Lake appeared in their sights. “Looks like we’re here guys!” Said Amy in a gleeful tone. “Sean parked the van in front of the cabin that sat right behind the entrance of the camp grounds. As the four friends got out they made note of the campground scenery. They were amazed at the site of the ground. It was beautiful. The grass, dirt and rocks of the surface were perfectly mixed together as if they were all freshly grounded together. The trees were blooming as if they were newly planted and when they looked at the sun, it seemed like there were two suns as it’s sunset evening reflection bounced off the pristine clearness of the lake water. This did not look like a camp that had been around since the 1950’s.

“Wow.” Alice said in amazement. I highly doubt there’s a mass murdering psychopath lurking underneath all this beauty. “And if he is I think he might be a little busy enjoying himself like we’re about to.” said Sean. “They opened the cabin and were surprised to find that it had been cleaned. “So there’s two rooms in this joint.” Nick began. “Sean and Amy you guys wanna take up top, while me and Alice get the bottom room?” “Sounds good to me, how bout you boo?” Sean asked Amy. “I’m fine with that.” Amy replied.

As they finished getting settled in the group prepared themselves for a campfire. “I’m pretty sure there’s some firewood in that cabin down the hill.” Nick began. “Babe you wanna help me go get some so we can get the fire started?” He asked Alice. “Oh god, he’s puttin me to work.” Alice replied sarcastically. Nick and Alice both made their way to the cabin down the hill with their arms draped across each other laughing and joking as the moved further and further out of Sean and Amy’s sights. “I’m so glad we’re here.” Amy said with a smile as she embraced Sean. “Me too.” Sean began with a smile. “We’re gonna have a good time this weekend. We’re gonna kick back relax and not get sliced up by Jason.” The pair laughed at Sean’s joke.

As it began to get darker outside and Sean and Amy finished unpacking their things they noticed that Nick and Alice had not returned from the cabin down the hill. “What’s takin them so long?” Amy asked. “They better not be playin’ around we gotta get this fire started.” Sean replied. “Come on, let’s go give them a hand.”

Sean and Amy made their way down the hill to the other cabin to see if Nick and Alice needed any help. As they made it inside the cabin they were surprised to find Nick and Alice nowhere in sight. “Guys?” Sean called out. “Guys where are you?” Sean and Amy looked at each other with concern. Amy then flipped the light switch by the cabin door. When the thoughts came on she looked down on the cabin floor and saw what looked like a small line of blood. “What the-” Sean started. “No way, they’re- they’re screwing with us right?” Amy asked with a hint of worry in her voice. “Nick, look dude this isn’t funny. You’ve had your fun, now bring the wood so we can start the campfire. “Come on A, let’s go back they’re probably just jo-” before Sean could finish he heard a creaking toward the back door of the cabin. “What was that?” Asked a frightened Amy. “Our two best friends trying really hard to scare us, but really need to stop.” said Sean with uncertainty.

As he walked to the back door he investigated the sound and slightly nudged the back door open to take a look at what what was behind it, but found nothing. “I don’t know what they-” as Sean turned back around to address Amy a figure wearing a jumpsuit with a hockey mask suddenly popped up behind him and cut him across the back of his arm with a machete. Amy screamed in terror as Sean fell to the ground yelling in pain and the man made his way toward Amy. She took off running out of the front door as the man in the hockey mask chased her. As she made it to the back door of the cabin at the front entrance, the man caught up with her and grabbed her by the shoulder. Amy screamed in terror as she tried to break the man’s grip, but he was too strong. As he raised his machete in the air preparing to strike at her he was suddenly knocked down by a log bearing Sean who knocked the man to the ground and then tackled him as he prepared to get back on his feet.

“RUN AMY!!!” Sean screamed as he wrestled with the masked figured. As Amy took off running, the man picked Sean up and tossed him back in the house. Sean grabbed one of the bags that was nearest to him as he made a run for the door and threw it at the man. The masked figure quickly shrugged off the throw. Sean has just barely made it out the front door when he saw Amy make it inside their van and was cranking it up. As Sean made it outside the man came out right behind him and tossed him off the porch, knocking a pained Sean to the ground once more. As the man charged his way to Sean with the machete in his hand going in for the killing blow, the man looked up and was caught off guard by van driving towards him full speed ahead. Amy hit the man with the van and sent him flying back through the cabin front door. “COME ON BABE HURRY!!!” Amy screamed at Sean as he quickly made his way to his feet as fast as he could and jumped in the passenger seat of the van.

Amy then backed the van out as fast as she could while looking back to make sure she didn’t hit any trees or anything else that would potentially stop the van or even slow it down from making it off of the camp grounds. She finally straightened the van up and drove forward exiting the campgrounds as fast as she could. As she sped away the pair slowly realized that their friends were most likely dead. “Who…was that?” Sean asked while slowly catching his breath and holding his bleeding arm in pain. “It was Jason…” Amy began while catching her breath as she continued to drive. “His name was Jason…”
