Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. There are no sounds in space. If you see someone scream, you could feel their scream and have empathy for them. Is that the same as hearing? And just who are they that say?

A scream rang out that was a sound that Genie had never heard in person before... maybe on countless Alfred Hitchcock stories and endless amounts CSI shows.

She scrambled awake to see what this totally new sound was aboard the BWIF. She ran into countless people running down toward the scream that was heard all around the massive space domicile. There were 5000 people aboard the BWIF... Genie was hoping it was no one she knew and that everything was ok... but at the same time... finally there was a new sense of excitement!

Eugenia known as Genie came from a long line of curious people with a knack for exploring new things and new places. Growing up in the 60's (2060) she was able to absorb all the technology of days gone by with massive digital libraries that expanded way beyond their Beyond World Intelligence Facility. At the BWIF they were responsible for researching new worlds... new foods... new life… for the future of humankind.

Genie spends most of her days working on different experiments as an science intern for the BWIF and dreaming of what life was like on 20th century Earth. She would spend hours daydreaming of being like Columbo or a famous female detective with something to prove. She would stay in this mode of imagination for hours and it would get her into trouble often.

"Eugenia Leanne Decoux! Get out of those stories and get to work on your lab work for planet 3630!" Genie's mom was often furious with her drifting mind and felt like the focus should be on the future of the people and not stuck in the past living in a fantasy. Genie felt as though being a bad ass detective was what she wanted most. She felt the urge of justice and a need to save others... it was overwhelming for her most days.

Genie is 22 and has been living in the Beyond World Itellegance Facility BWIF, since she was born. She was born to her explorer scientist parents aboard the BWIF. She knows only what she gets from the vast digital library that contains tons of history, science and even old Western films. She would spend hours watching Columbo, Dragnet, In the Heat of the Night, Perry Mason, Law and Order, CSI and other old crime stories... absorbing information and solving crimes as she watched.

"Kenna! Where did that scream come from?" "I don't know Genie!" Kenna was Genie's best friend and partner on the crime mystery passion. Kenna grabs Genie's hand and they start running in the same direction as everyone else towards the sound of the scream and panic. They reach a point in the hall where everyone seemed to stop. It was outside an apartment of the ship.

The apartment belonged to Keeley Jensen a fellow worker that was not known well to Kenna or Genie. Everyone just seemed to be standing with horrified looks on their faces and not moving. As if they have collectively become this brick wall of astonishment.

"What is going on?" No one would answer Genie as if someone had frozen everyone in time. There was never a crime aboard the BWIF. People were there for their missions and that was it. They had counselors aboard to deal with discrepancies but never a need for any sort of police. Outside of child's play on the BWIF daycare playground... Genie had never heard a scream like that... only on shows in the digital library.

Genie pushed her way closer to the entrance of the apartment and there was Keeley's young daughter who let out the scream in horror over what she had found.

Little Ellie woke up this morning without her mother waking her up. She knew she had school and needed to get ready. She went to wake her mom Keeley and found her cold, blue and motionless in the bathroom floor.

She looked as if she’d been dead for months… but she was at work just yesterday. Genie and Kenna work with her in the same lab and remember seeing her. There were visible signs and puncture wounds that suggests this was not in anyway natural. There were no blood pools as if she’d been killed somewhere else!

Immediately fear set into to Genie and she realized this was the beginning of something new. No one had ever been murdered aboard the BWIF since it was put into service in the late 40's. Genie grabbed Ellie and held her. As she was holding her she was trying so hard to keep her face full of empathy for little Ellie. At the same time Genie was feeling a little joy... and had a brief vision of her and her bestie standing there solving the crime like Benson and Stabler from Law and Order SVU.

Straightening her face out and trying to remain humble in front of Ellie and the onlookers... Genie began to realize that the crime scene needed preservation and evidence needed to be gathered. She made everyone get back and called for the counselors... because there wasn't really anyone else to call.

She gave Kenna a deep stare and Kenna automatically knew that things were fixing to get really interesting aboard the BWIF...

Just then in the middle of the full blown crisis there was another scream and it was coming from the observatory. Genie ran to the observatory making sure Kenna stayed to guard Ellie and the crime scene.

Genie came into the observatory with a small crowd standing over another body that was discovered just then when the observatory dining was open for breakfast. It was Gus Lawson an elder of the ship. He too was cold, blue and motionless like he had been dead for a few months. No one should have been in the observatory before breakfast much less be murdered. What is going on? Genie thought as a deep fear set in with a touch of excitement.

There was a killer living amongst them all! This was literally going to change the way of life aboard the BWIF forever… As Genie set herself up for this new found action… another scream. Genie alert heads to the next location of the scream with Kenna joining her as she ran. “Are you ready for this Kenna!” With a quiver in her voice… Kenna pulls her courage together and says “I am….. let’s do this!”
