It started like any other day. The sun was shining. The flowers bloomed and dew drops covered spider webs. It was a crisp morning, a good start to the day. Then a cloud appeared and it all went downhill from there.

Lee liked to run outside first thing in the morning, rain or shine, but today the sun was out. So it was a perfect day to play. First, he would hope like a bunny from step to step. Then he would pretend to be a lion hunting his prey before pouncing on a leaf. Sometimes he would startle birds and make them fly off.

This day was no different than any other Lee hopped along and he would stop looking for something to hunt. The sun on his back made him sigh from the warmth. Then he saw something move in the garden.

Racing over, thinking it was birds or the neighbor's cat, he planned to pounce. When he was close enough, he jumped out and gave a mighty roar. Only it wasn't a bird or a cat or even a dog. No, it was a big black and white skunk with its tail standing tall, pointed directly at him.

As you can imagine what happened next? The smell was rancid and covered Lee from head to toe. Lee screamed and went running back to the house. His mother ran out to see what was wrong only to smell the fumes from the startled skunk. Gasping in horror she realized that Lee was sprayed.

Not knowing what to do Lee's mom ran over to the hose, thinking to raise him off would do the trick. Only, instead of a stinky Lee now, it was a stinky wet Lee who was very unhappy. Next Lee was rushed into the bathroom and pushed into the shower, clothes and all. His mother covered him in sweet-smelling soap, scrubbing all over. Once done he was rinsed off, he still smelled like skunk but with a flower smell there too.

Next, a bath was prepared with bubbles, which Lee liked. After he hopped in his mother took his clothes and stuck them in a bag. Lee scrubbed and played with the bubbles, but still, the smell wouldn't go away. Not sure what to do Lee was dried off and told to go eat his breakfast with his brother.

When Lee got close to the table his brother ran out of the room. He had to force down breakfast because the smell made him sick to his stomach. After a while, his mother came in and asked him to play outside. Lee ran outside only to see his friends playing hopscotch. Excited he ran over only for everyone to run away holding they're noses.

Next, he saw a puppy playing with a ball, so he went to go play, only for the puppy to whine and run away. No one wanted to play with Lee. He just stunk too much. As the day went by Lee finally returned home. He had a bad day. When he got home his little brother started to cry before running to his room. Lee started to cry also, not even his brother wanted to be around him. Just then his dad got home.

Lee believed his dad wouldn't want to be around him either, ran to his room to cry. "I am so stinky." he cried "No one will ever want me again. For I will always be known as the stinky boy."

Lee's mother explain to his father what happened. After hearing his son's fate he asked her to fill the bath one more time. Lee was sitting on the floor weeping when his father told him that he had a special potion that would remove his curse. Lee looked up in awe and begged for this potion so he wouldn't have to be alone anymore.

So off to the bathroom he went watching his father pour a thick red potion on him. First, his hair was scrubbed, then his face was scrubbed with the slimy potion. Lee was covered head to toe in the potion before rinsing off. While rinsing Lee held his breath in fear, only for him to finally take a small breath. His curse was broken.

Lee learned that day to be cautious even when playing. For no one wanted to play with a skunk-smelly boy.
