Since he cannot do all those things, nobody calls him Pandit Ji. Although he was very much satisfied with his work, life, income but he had this wish that all people should call him Pandit Ji. Birbal said it was not difficult at all, but he had to follow his advice word by word.

Birbal said, "Whenever somebody calls you Pandit Ji, you should be very angry and shout at him loudly, that is all." Brahmin agreed. Next day Birbal went to the locality where that Brahmin used to live. There he talked to the children. He came to know that children didn't like him because he used to scold them. So he told them if you call that man "Pandit Ji, Pandit Ji" he will get irritated, and you could take your revenge. Hearng his Children were very happy.

From next day the children started calling him "Pandit Ji", "Pandit Ji", and the Brahmin started to shout at them. After some time Seetharam got tired of shouting but the children and other people kept calling him Pandit Ji. So the game was over, and the name "Pandit Ji" stuck to Seetharam.Birbals idea worked and Brahmin was happy.

Birbal Identifies The Guest

Once a rich man named Nadir Khan invited Birbal for lunch at his place. Nadir Khan had heard a lot about Birbal’s intelligence and wanted to test him. Birbal visited Nadir Khan’s place and found himself in a hall full of people. Nadir Khan was elated to see Birbal and greeted him warmly. Birbal was wondering what is this all about.

“I didn’t know there would be so many guests,” said Birbal who doesn't large gatherings.

“They are not guests,” said Nadir Khan. “These are my employees, all except one man. He is the only other guest here beside you. Can you identify my other guest?” he asked.

Before Nadir Khan could finish his talk Birbal understood the whole scenario, that this was a test for him.

Nadir Khan kept wondering how would Birbal identify his guest. He went ahead and told a joke ,that Birbal thought was perhaps the worst he had heard . When he finished everyone laughed loud, except one. That was enough for Birbal.

“Well,” said Nadir Khan. “I’ve told my joke. Did you find out who’s my other guest? Tell me soon I am very curious”

Birbal pointed out a man to him. “How on the earth did you figure this out?” asked Nadir Khan, all amazed.

“Employees tend to laugh at any joke told by their employers,” explained Birbal.

“When I observed everyone, I saw that this man was the only one not laughing at your joke, and also look bored,Therefore I figured out he was your other guest.”

Nadir Khan praised Birbal and they all enjoyed a hearty meal.

Birbal Caught The Thief

One fine morning, a minister from Emperor Akbar's court had visited him in the assembly hall.

He informed the Emperor that all his valuables had been stolen by a thief the previous night.

Akbar was shocked to hear this because the place where that minister lived was the safest place in the kingdom.

He invited Birbal to solve the mystery. Birbal said "It is definitely not possible for an outsider to enter into the minister's house and steal the valuables. This blunder is definitely committed by some another minister of our court." Saying so, he arranged for a donkey to be tied to a pillar. He ordered all the courtiers to lift the donkey's tail and say "I have not stolen."

Birbal added "Only then we can judge the culprit." After everyone had finished, he asked the courtiers to show their palm to him. All the courtiers except Alim Khan had a black patch of paint on their palm. Birbal had actually painted the donkey's tail with a black coat of paint. In the fright, the guilty minister did not touch the donkey's tail at all. Thus Birbal once again proved his intelligence and was rewarded by Akbardd with 1000 gold coins.
