Chapter 1

A Brand New Mission

A young man around the age of 14 with brown hair and blue eyes named Jeremiah is walking across the halls, letting out a big yawn, as he does some stretches, bags under his eyes as he stayed up most of the night researching Linda, a young woman around the same age with jade eyes and black hair who recently found herself in Superhero custody. They were specifically researching her werewolf transformation. Netting himself only a whopping two hours of sleep before he had to report to work. Letting out another big yawn, the door to Head Spikey’s temporary office slid open and he walked in.

As per their usual routine, the black dog with a brown underbelly wearing a spiked collar known as Head Spikey turns his swirling office chair around and greeted, “Hello Agent Jeremiah. Head or sanitary?”

Jeremiah groaned in tired as he takes his seat, clutching his head, as he forced out, “Ahh…Head. Yeah, head.”

Head Spikey raised his eyebrow and asked, “Are you alright, Agent Jeremiah? You don’t seem well.”

Jeremiah stuttered wobbling, “It’s fine…not enough sleep…I’ll get over it.”

Head Spikey simply responded, “Right…Well then, your mission is to escort a cargo ship from the Pokémon World to the Super Smash Bros. world and finally to the new location of the Agency. This mission will be very important as you will be transporting crucial supplies to the Agency’s reconstruction, some of which can be later used in the construction of the weapon. Do you understand?”

Jeremiah’s face grows dark as he sobered up and responded, “Got it. I’ll make sure that ship gets there safely.”

“Good. You will rendezvous with the ship at Sandgem Town. You are dismissed.”

Jeremiah saluted and walked out the door.

Chapter 2

Darkness’s Preparations

At the foot of Mt. Coronet, a small, circular, and overcast shadow appeared. Rising out of the shadow, a young turtle-like creature with a spiked shell comes out of it, his black facial markings ever evident. Two more soldiers wearing purple armor wielding tridents followed behind him. After them came a lanky figure with blue eyes, messy brown hair, and similar black markings on his face. Once he walks off the shadow, it uncurls and rises out of the ground taking an elongated shape with long arms on either side each with sharp three-fingered hands and two pointed triangles for a head as his red eyes open.

Bowser Jr. pulls out a tablet displaying a radar on it with a blinking red dot beeping in unison to it and reported, “It shouldn’t take too long for him to get off planet. Once he’s off-world, we’ll begin the preparations.”

“Preparations for what?” asked Nic.

Darkness faced towards Nic and simply said, “To locate the Light Realm.” He once again faced towards Bowser Jr. “For now, I must return to the Shadow Realm as my self-created portals aren’t big enough for the equipment. Let me know when he’s off-planet, that’s when I’ll send it. And remember, this project is of the utmost priority.”

Bowser Jr. turned around and saluted as Darkness sunk into the ground, swirling into himself, before disappearing.

Bowser Jr. turned back to the radar as Nic took a peek over his head and asked, “What’s this?”

Bowser Jr. answered, “This is a tracker. Thanks to our mole in the Agency, we’re currently able to track any ship in the Agency, including Jeremiah. Right now, Jeremiah is scheduled for a mission that will take him off-world, but he’ll be stopping a little too close to here for my liking. We’re going to wait until he’s off-world before we get started.”

As the beep from the radar echoed in the ears of Nic and Bowser Jr., the sounds of the Rustbucket’s thrusters echoes in the ears of Jeremiah. He is currently above Sandgem Town looking for the rendezvous point. Not seeing it in the town itself, he looks a little bit further to find it just outside of town. Makes sense since there’s no good landing spot in Sandgem Town. He started descending towards the sandy bank of Route 221 as the ship let out a low whine until its landing gear deployed landing on the sandy beach. Jeremiah noticed a huge black cargo ship as his own ship depressurizes opening up the hatch. Jeremiah jumped out and landed on the sand with Pikachu not far behind, landing on his shoulder, “Pika pika.” At Pikachu’s cry, an old man with white hair and a beard looked behind him, surprised at first, but that surprise turned to relief as he exhaled. Briefcase in hand, he walked up to Jeremiah and said, “Greetings there. I wasn’t expecting to see you here. (He shakes his hand.) How are your Pokémon doing?”

“Very well. Uxie has especially been helpful lately, though he is a bit of a smart aleck. Jirachi has been fairing well, and Thundrstar has really been stepping up his training for the other Pokémon. By the way, this is Pikachu. Pikachu, say hello.”

Pikachu made a cute little noise resembling that of a hello. Prof. Rowan shook Pikachu’s hand in a sign of respect. “I see that you don’t have your translator on.”

Jeremiah commented, “Those things are not very mobile. We have learned how to put them in ship communicators, but not these very convenient watches.”

Prof. Rowan nodded in affirmation and continued, “Anyway, let’s get down to business. I presume you’re the agent escorting us?”

Jeremiah nodded in affirmation, “You presume correct.”

Prof. Rowan nodded and gestured toward the big black ship, “Then you better come with me.”

Jeremiah nods and they both walk to the big black ship.

It doesn’t take long for the blip representing Jeremiah’s ship to begin moving on the radar. Looking off into the distance, the two ships can be seen flying off the planet. Bowser Jr. spoke into his earpiece, “Master Darkness…Yeah, yeah…ok…Bye.” He took his hand off the earpiece and said to Nic, “He will be here shortly.”

In the Shadow Realm, Darkness is at the controls of his portal machine. Many small spacecraft are lifting up. The machine sparked as a purple vortex opens sucking in the air from the place as the ships propel into it. The vortex closes. Darkness inputs some new coordinates. Pressing enter, the machine generates a ton of energy opening up a new purple vortex, this one leaving the Realm’s atmosphere intact. He gestures for his minions to haul a bunch of research equipment into the vortex.

Using some convenient hover carts, they haul the equipment into the portal popping out at Mt. Coronet. Bowser Jr. started barking orders as to where the equipment goes. Darkness emerged from the vortex and stared around the peak of Mt. Coronet.

“Finally, after eons of searching, today I will find you: the Light Realm.”

Something unseen and out of earshot roared in response.

Chapter 3

Epic Ship Battle

Jeremiah and the cargo ship lift off the Pokémon World and into the outer reaches of space. Upon exiting the atmosphere of the planet, Jeremiah double-checked the route on his map. According to it, their first destination is the Super Smash Bros. World for supplies and other cargo, which is then to be transported to the planetoid the New Agency will reside upon. After confirming all that, they blast off towards the Super Smash Bros. World.

In the distance, a giant purple portal opens up as the enemy squadron flies out of it. The pilots flashback to Darkness’s orders:

“Your mission is to capture Jeremiah and bring him to me alive. On the off-chance you are unable to fulfill this objective, then distract him as long as you can. Keep him away from the Pokémon world at all costs. I do not want him catching wind of what we’re doing there. Wait until after he leaves the Super Smash Bros. World before striking as he has to pick up some very dangerous cargo.”

The flashback ended as Jeremiah stares at what’s being loaded up.

“Bob-ombs!? We’re transporting Bob-ombs!?”

Prof. Rowan responded, “Indeed. Some Bob-ombs are sentient, though I don’t think any of the ones we’re transporting are.”

“But why does the Agency need Bob-ombs!?”

“You said you’re in the middle of a war, right?”

Jeremiah groaned in frustrated understanding. The cargo is loaded up, the doors slam shut, and everyone gets back on their ships and lift off. They exit the world’s atmosphere and plot a course to the new Agency as a reticle locks on to them from an enemy ship. They wait until they’re a little distance away and fire.

Jeremiah’s ship’s radar blinked in response to the attack and he barely swerves his ship to the side to dodge the missiles that fly past. He turns his ship around and gazes at the enemy squadron.

“Oh, you got to be kidding—”

Before he can finish that sentence, two laser blasts hit his wings sounding alarms all over his ship, his screen displaying red spots in those areas. All the ships open fire on them sending a barrage of lasers straight at both of them. They took evasive maneuvers but the lasers were so close together that for every two or three they avoided, one managed to hit them. Jeremiah flew low as the lasers were in a straight line. The cargo ship is taking too many hits, and it would only take one well-placed shot to blow the whole thing.

Several smaller ships broke formation and fired at Jeremiah. Luckily, it’s a lot easier to dodge a few scattered shots than a whole wall. Using some aerial maneuvers, he dodges the lasers and fires a couple of missiles destroying two ships. The ships in formation switch targets to the cargo ship. The ones still on Jeremiah’s tail are firing lasers at him as he goes in an arc to avoid them and close in on the formation.

He fired his lasers destroying several ships in the process. However, a laser hits his rear thruster. One more hit and it’s toast. They fire but barely miss the cargo ship thanks to Jeremiah’s wildfire. Several ships fly out of the wall and fire missiles at Jeremiah. He quickly flies down only to find out that the missiles were guided missiles following him. As he sweats nervously racking his brain for a solution, he commed the cargo ship, “Get out of here now!”

The enemy squadron adjust their formation and fire. Out of time, Jeremiah’s right arm glowed blue slowing down time. He sent temporal energy into the ship so it could move normally. He thought, “If only I can do that with my normal powers. Wait, can I?” He flew in front of the cargo ship and tears open a panel in the ship revealing the wires.

Reaching inside there, he quickly jury-rigged something and thought, “Not exactly the best defense, but let’s hope it works.” His arm glowed blue once more returning time back to normal. Jeremiah’s hands glow white flowing through the steering wheel, through the circuitry, creating a wall of light in front of the ship that blocked the lasers.

When the smoke cleared, Jeremiah sent more energy into the wheel using it to fire two Light Blasts from the ship’s blasters destroying the enemy ships and forcing the remaining ones to retreat. Jeremiah breathed heavily from exhaustion as his jury-rigging was very inefficient. Everyone fired up their thrusters and continued on to the Agency.

Chapter 4

Infiltrate the Light Realm

At the base of Mt. Coronet, an entire workstation was set up manned by many of Darkness’s minions at the command of Bowser Jr. As he double-checked the coordinates of the Light Realm using the big computer that was set up there, Darkness asked from behind him, “How goes the research on entering the Light Realm?”

Bowser Jr. reported, “Setting up the workstation took longer than anticipated due to the magnetic field here. But we have managed to isolate a possible entry point.”

“Good. Get ready to send in a scouting party immediately. I just got word that the capture squad was defeated,” ordered Darkness.

“Roger. I’ll get right on it.”

Bowser Jr. typed something into the keyboard.

“Scout Squad 1, prepare for liftoff.”

A small group of scout ships lift off. Bowser Jr. sends them the coordinates with a push of a button and the thrusters kick off.

The portal opens and the pilots go radio silent for a moment. Then all of a sudden they hear, “Where am I? What is this place? What am I wearing!?”

Similar panics could be heard from all 4 pilots. Darkness and Bowser Jr. gasp. “Going in there cures them!?” But before it could sink in, they hear a roar echo across the mountain.

A spiral gust of wind erupted from the ground as a portal to the Distortion World opened right in front of them. A black mass rises out of the portal with menacing red eyes. A foot stomps out of the ground as the shape gains form, roaring again, revealing Giratina, lord of the Distortion World with inky black wings, a gray body accented by the black markings on its six-legged figure accompanied by the yellow accessory/armor-like exoskeleton all over its entire body covering it with natural spikes especially on its big, round feet.

It took off flying straight into the Light Realm changing into its Origin Form, where its legs turn into that of a serpent’s tail, the inky black wings turning into six black tendrils, its exoskeleton transforming to become more aerodynamic with many natural side spikes protruding from it complete with a new pincer like mouthpiece. It flew straight in front of the confused scouting party and using its new tail, smacked all of them at once knocking them straight out of the Light Realm sending them crashing into the ground.

Giratina flew out of the Light Realm as its form changes back, it disappears in a cloak of shadows.

Darkness mouths, “A Pokémon of darkness?”

Giratina appeared behind Darkness and strikes.

In a brief instance, Darkness is on the ground. He uttered, “It hit me?” It roared as Nic threw out a pokeball sending out a Torterra, a big green and brown turtle Pokémon with trees growing out of its back. It immediately uses Earthquake, shaking the ground and opening up a fissure that knocks down Giratina on its side. Darkness got back up as Torterra tries to wrap up Giratina with Vine Whip, a move where it uses vines for various scenarios.

“What Pokémon is that?”

Bowser Jr. checks his tablet and finds him, “Giratina.”

Giratina flies back up still wrapped in vines as it unleashes a breath of blue fire known as Dragonbreath on Torterra exploding loudly on impact, sending shockwaves across the whole area. Torterra was forced to let go. Giratina disappeared and reappeared in front of Darkness. He gets ready to chomp Darkness, but he quickly sank into the ground and moved out of the way. Rising from the ground just as quickly as he sank from Giratina’s side, Darkness sinks his claws into Giratina and funnels shadow energy directly into him, but something went wrong. Purple lightning emerges from where the shadow energy was pouring in. The buzzing could be heard a mile away. Giratina screamed in pain. It attempts to hit Darkness with a Dragonbreath but it goes straight through him destroying the ground. Despite the crater, Darkness was still standing unharmed. Giratina is surprised as it let out another bellowing scream. It slapped Darkness away with its wing forcing him to let go. Giratina flies away and roars unleashing a spiral gust of wind from its mouth creating a new portal to the Distortion World, fleeing into it.

As the portal closed, Darkness got up and commented, “So that is Giratina, guardian of the Distortion World? Why is it protecting the Light Realm?”

He received a transmission in his earpiece. After listening to the report, Darkness turned to Bowser Jr., “Herbert just finished his project so I must go. Do more research on Giratina and the Light Realm.”

He sunk into the shadows and disappeared.

Chapter 5

Another Successful Mission

Jeremiah landed inside the Ship Bay of Superhero HQ 9. The cockpit opened and he hopped out with no issue. However, a voice calls out to him, “Umm…can you give me a hand here?” The voice belonged to none other than Prof. Rowan, who came with Jeremiah because he had something to discuss with Head Spikey. Jeremiah sighed, not surprised but equally disappointed. He gently levitated up to the cockpit and held out his hand.

“You can fly!?” blurted out an astonished Prof. Rowan.

Disgruntled, Jeremiah responded, “Oh, right. You don’t know.”

“Know what?”

“This ain’t flight, it’s levitation. I have superpowers,” answered Jeremiah.

Prof. Rowan calmed down and took a deep breath. He took Jeremiah’s hand and they levitate safely down. Pikachu jumped down onto Jeremiah’s shoulder and said, “Glad to be back.” Prof. Rowan commented, “Your Pokémon translator seems to be working well.”

They walk over to Head Spikey’s office, their footsteps echoing in the hall. The automatic door slid open and the two walk in. Head Spikey turned his chair away from the computer and greeted, “Hello Agent Jeremiah and Prof. Rowan. I trust the mission was a success.”

“Indeed,” Jeremiah began as Prof. Rowan walked up to the Head. He smiled and said, “The blueprints for the Pokémon habitats have been safely delivered.”

“Habitats? Plural?” questioned Jeremiah.

Head Spikey explained, “You see, Pokémon are very diverse creatures. As such, no one habitat will do it. That’s why we contacted Prof. Rowan. For his input.”

“I suggested the idea of multiple habitats for Pokémon of different typings.”

“We agreed with his reasoning and thus decided to have the Pokémon habitat split into various mini-habitats. One for each type.”

Jeremiah’s eyes were sparkling with excitement as Prof. Rowan continued, “Of course, you can’t have a habitat without a Pokémon, which is why I’m here. To give the Agency its very first Pokémon.”

Prof. Rowan pulled out a Pokeball and pressed the button opening it. In a flash of light, a small green turtle-like Pokémon with a brown shell and a twig with a leaf protruding from its head appears. “Hello.” “With this Turtwig, you should have everything you need to start your own Pokémon habitat.”

He returned it to its ball and handed it to Head Spikey. “All I ask is that you take care good care of it. With that, I must bid you adieu.”

Prof. Rowan bowed and as he was exiting the room, Head Spikey mentions, “There is already an agent ready to send you home.”

He turned his head around to look at the Head and uttered, “Thank you” as he stepped out into the hallway, the automatic door shutting behind him.

Head Spikey continued, “Since you have successfully unlocked the Pokémon habitat, it’s screen time. I would also like to add that Ness from the Super Smash Bros. world has joined us as well. Which habitat do you want to see first?”

“Just show me them in the order I unlocked them in.”

“Very well then.” Head Spikey scooted the chair out of the way as the screen first displayed the Super Smash Bros. habitat showing a 3D rendering of it with Ness inside. Afterwards, it switched to the Pokémon habitat consisting of five mini habitats for grass, water, fire, and flying type Pokémon plus a legendary Pokémon habitat with a hologram of Turtwig in the grass mini-habitat. The screen turned off.

“I miss my pop-up screen,” mumbled Head Spikey before clearing his throat and facing Jeremiah. “So any more questions?”

“Yes. Can I put add-ons on my ship?”

“You are allowed one add-on on your ship. Anything else?”

“Nope.”

“In that case, excellent work Agent Jeremiah.”

The loud speaker suddenly dinged as it announced, “The reconstruction of the Agency is complete. The new coordinates have been sent to all Agency watches. All agents are suggested to begin packing their belongings immediately. The new building is an exact replica of the original except with a new Entertainment Wing, a couples-only room, and partially expanded habitats. All agents, please pack your belongings.”

“You better go pack.”

Jeremiah nodded and left.

While the agents were packing, a multitude of extra ships landed outside the Memory Arena to help transport all the agents and their belongings. For extra space, they opted to park outside the building as opposed to the regular Ship Bay. The launch platform was also raised for the Agents who had their own ships.

The sun was setting as the dusk light fills the sky. Tech Girl was putting some luggage on a ship herself when Tech Boy, holding his crutches, came on out. Tech Girl heard him and saw him. She walked up to him and chastised, “You should be resting in the Medical Bay.”

“No. I’m not going to sit there and twiddle my thumbs all day. I’m coming with, whether you like it or not.”

They continue arguing as a gentle breeze blows as Jeremiah nervously says with Linda near him, “There they go again.”

“Yeah,” mouthed Linda.

“So, what are you going to do now Linda?” asked Jeremiah somberly.

Linda gripped her arm and answered hesitantly, “I don’t know yet.”

Jeremiah nodded in response. Head Spikey checks in on the agents’ status not too far from them as the sun shines down with the birds singing. Jeremiah smiles for a brief moment, only for the sky to darken, but not because the planet’s moon rises.

Everyone looks up and sees a giant purple vortex in the sky, just above Superhero HQ 9. As everyone wonders and stares at the sight, with no warning a giant purple beam rains down from the sky and decimates Superhero HQ 9 sending shock waves all across the area.
