During her Freshman year of college Kassandra found it easy to make some friends and was trying to get along with her roommate who was proving to be difficult already and it has only been over a month. Kassandra could only really blame the college for sticking her with a roommate that she didn't have much if anything in common with but was wanting to stick it out for the year. Her roommate Becca started to hang out with Kassandra's friend Alyssa, which was great for Kassandra so she could start to get to know her roommate better and maybe even add another friend to her ever growing list of people she was meeting on campus. Also making their living situation even better. As the Fall semester started to pick up and Kassandra was trying to stay upon her assignments and get ahead she often didn't spend as much time with her roommate and friend unless she had some free time or went to get some food from the cafeteria.

Kassandra started noticing that Becca and Alyssa were getting very close together and were often giggling on their phones talking about boys. Which to Kassandra she wasn't even that into dating apps and believed that when she found her person it would be on her own terms and own time she didn't need an app to do that. She didn't judge her friends as they were having a good time and hoped they would find someone for them on their. What Kassandra later found out is that they were just mindlessly swiping right and not actually looking into these people's profiles so when they got sent unsolicited naked photos and they would giggle and then say "I'm scared to open my snaps to see if I get another you know..." Kassandra still let them be and soon realized that everyone is on dating apps and meeting people the "old fashioned" way just doesn't happen anymore unless you are a Hollywood movie/ TV show.

On a chilly day in October Kassandra was hanging out with her friends in Alyssa's room catching up and things. Becca and Kassandra's roommate situation had hit a bumpy road but anytime Kassandra would bring something up Becca would act like there wasn't any issue to talk about. They all still hung out together. Becca had met someone on her dating app and was getting to know him better. He was a Junior and a frat guy in one of the frats that was known to have attractive guys in it. He was coming by later to pick her up for a date and wanted one of us to stay with her when he came so we could see and meet him. Becca immediately jumped at the chance saying "I'll do it since Kassandra probably has some homework to do in our room and she would be cramping your style if she stayed". Kassandra was taken aback by this comment. While yes she did have homework but so did Becca for the same class but Kassandra had hers pretty much finished and she knew for a fact that Becca hadn't even started hers. Becca had been making comments like these lately saying that Kassandra barely leaves the room unless it's for class or meals which wasn't entirely true but Becca had never asked Kassandra to have the room to herself before even when she told her she didn't mind just ask.

Kassandra left but before she did told Alyssa to text her later and let her know how the date went. She went back to her room absolutely stunned and thought she was making real progress with her roommate. Kassandra called her mom as her mom had been her rock for most of her life when her parents divorced when she was young. Her mom told her that maybe Becca is going through a rough time too and missing her family so maybe I should talk to her. A little later Becca and Kassandra talked things through and came to an understanding and mended there friendship. A couple weekends later Alyssa was back on the dating app as the guy before was a dud that just wanted to sleep with her.

"Hey Kass, we should make you a dating profile" Alyssa suggested. Kassandra pondered the idea and she wasn't getting anywhere with the waiting to run into somebody. "Okay fine you guys can help me make a profile but I can't use my phone can I get the app on my laptop?" Kassandra had a very old off brand smartphone that her parents paid for at the time. Becca was quick to grab Kassandra's laptop and open the app store and find Tinder to download it on her laptop. Becca insisted on picking the photos for Kassandra's profile because she "knew what guys wanted to see". Alyssa and Becca helped even with her bio which read "not looking for hookups". Which was true as Kassandra was a virgin and she didn't want someone to just want her for sex. She wanted a relationship.

Kassandra got busy swiping but unlike her friends she actually paid attention to the profiles and she got a handful of matches including a guy that lived in her building. She was ecstatic but sucked at flirting and would ask her friends for advice on flirting or if everything sounded okay. Little did Kassandra know that Becca as she was helping to create her profile took down the email and password to Kassandra's account. Kassandra had no idea at first but then she noticed in some of her matches there would be replies from her but she didn't remember typing those things to those people. Overtly flirty almost risque content and Kassandra just wasn't that person. She got a notification from the guy that lived in her building saying "I know on your profile it just says no hookups but with the way you've been messaging me it seems otherwise. Wanna come up to my room for some fun?" Kassandra was mortified and read the last few messages she knew for a fact were not from her. She declined visiting the guy and told him "I think my account was hacked I'm not into that kind of thing."

Kassandra was freaking out and called Alyssa and explained the whole situation to her. Alyssa soon came over and was trying to help her friend figure out how it happened but first things first was to create a new password. A little while later Becca came back from class and saw Alyssa in the room comforting Kassandra. "What happened?" She asked looking between them. "We think someone hacked Kassandra's Tinder. Someone has been messaging her matches some pretty crude things. We managed to change her password and reported it to support." Alyssa replied.

Kassandra watched Becca's facial expressions as Alyssa told her what happened and instead of shock all she could see on her face was fear. Kassandra didn't like what she was seeing so she spoke up. "Becca do you know who would do this to me? The look on your face says it all."

"Actually I have something to confess. I've been the one messaging those people pretending to be you. I didn't like all the attention you were getting on your profile versus mine and I thought if I could make you seem like a big slut to some of the guys on their it would make you want drop out." Kassandra and Alyssa were stunned by Becca's confession.

Kassandra and Alyssa soon stopped hanging around Becca after that and soon Becca herself dropped out. Kassandra decided to delete her dating app and wait a couple years before she thought about joining them ever again. Needless to say always keep your passwords private because you never know who might try to steal them and why.
