Can Reading Romance Genre Novels be Affecting My Potential Relationships?
Like many people I would love to consider myself a hopeless romantic and want to find "the one". I am also a book lover and love reading books especially some that fall in the Romance category. Now, I am picky when it comes to the type of Romance books I like to read. I love strong independent female characters that I can see a bit of myself in. I've also been into reading Romantic Erotica or "cliterature" as I've heard others refer to it as that still has the same strong independent female characters that only 'submit' if you will to their person but never lose their Independence.

Stop Calling Advanced kids 'Gifted'
Start writing... In school there was always a subject or many that some of us accelerated at while others struggled to pick up the material. With being well versed in certain subjects those students often would get labeled as 'gifted, genius, etc.' What those terms actually do to the person can set them up for struggles later in life. Those struggles can lead to depression and anxiety and other mental and behavioral issues for that individual. From a young age I was constantly told that I was gifted in certain subjects this lead to added pressures from family, peers, and teachers to have me always be perfect and anything less was unacceptable. I remember bringing home a test in middle school where I tried my best and I received a "C". My teacher was disappointed in me saying I didn't try hard enough and my mother thought I deserved to be grounded because I know better than to bring home a grade that was below a "B+". Hearing these comments made me feel upset as my older sisters were never advanced in subjects as I was so they never were grounded for bringing home low grades.

Virginity, what's the big deal about it?
What makes a person a virgin and has that term lost it's meaning through the years? In the early middle ages when there was knights and king and queens a woman's virginity was a prize for a man especially if that man held a royal title. They would often do virginity checks and if the woman didn't bleed on her wedding night after having sex then she was deemed not a virgin and would often be killed. Thinking about what was normal then seems pretty harsh now. Many women don't want to think about having to bleed during their first time but back then women would carry viles of pig or other animal blood just in case they didn't bleed. The middle ages was extreme in how they handled most things including females in general but it is important to note where most of these concepts started.

A horrible roommate and a dating app disaster.
During her Freshman year of college Kassandra found it easy to make some friends and was trying to get along with her roommate who was proving to be difficult already and it has only been over a month. Kassandra could only really blame the college for sticking her with a roommate that she didn't have much if anything in common with but was wanting to stick it out for the year. Her roommate Becca started to hang out with Kassandra's friend Alyssa, which was great for Kassandra so she could start to get to know her roommate better and maybe even add another friend to her ever growing list of people she was meeting on campus. Also making their living situation even better. As the Fall semester started to pick up and Kassandra was trying to stay upon her assignments and get ahead she often didn't spend as much time with her roommate and friend unless she had some free time or went to get some food from the cafeteria.

Period Trackers and why we've become insistent on using them
With the sad and frustrating overturning of Roe v. Wade, many friends and family I have seen are struggling with wanting to keep their period apps but don't want their data sold to the Government. Majority also have no idea how to calculate their cycle so they rely heavily on these apps to tell them when to expect Aunt Flo. In reality I have never known these apps or trusted them much in the first place. From shortly after starting my first period my mother taught me the good old fashioned way on how to track my period and ovulation. I also consulted with my Gyno when I was older and she confirmed the way I was doing it and said "While the apps are nice to have when you don't have the time they also aren't the most accurate". So I'm going to share with you all some tips on how to track your period in some easy steps and it also helps with tracking your ovulation too for all those out there who want to start a family or just simply want to know when they are ovulating.

A Letter to the Sandman
Oh Mr. Sandman please bring me a dream. Let me sleep through the night just one time even if I don't dare to dream at all. So many sleepless nights spent tossing and turning wandering if you will ever show your face so that I may be able to catch some sleep. I wonder how you do it? How are you able to grant so many people sleep while the rest of us are too restless to close our eyes even for a minute? An old wives tale says that when you can't sleep it is due to someone thinking about you. If that's true then do you ever get sleep? Surely you must not because I know when I can't sleep you are the first person that comes to mind that might help me sleep. With just a sprinkle of sand you are able to make the restless rest. Even when our minds are overworking and too excitedly anxious about something coming up in our lives or not being able to get comfortable in our beds. Even when our dreams turn to nightmares and wake us so we can't go back asleep. You are the one that is their and are able to with just a sprinkle of sand make us drift off into slumber. Mr. Sandman you truly are a blessing and a curse. You are a blessing for those nights we simply can crash on our beds and a curse when we are unable to sleep just a wink. How do you decide who gets to sleep and who doesn't? Is there a naughty and nice list for sleepers? Or is it just a cruel game you play with everyone to keep things interesting? If only it were that simple and you were a god that controlled things like that and played cruel games on your believers. But you are not a god, you are someone that we blame when we simply can't sleep. So Mr. Sandman if you truly exist please give this troubled sleeper a dream.

Stigmatization of Masturbation
In the United States many of us can agree that sex education needs to be adapted and be more inclusive. Speaking personally the sex education I received in my school was heavily abstinent influenced. No sex before you are married if you are a female. My class at the time had both Males and Females in the class and at the time I didn't realize until I was older that the topics we covered were mostly related to the male anatomy including ailments such as erectile dysfunction. We never touched on female genital ailments such as Endometriosis. I had no idea what most ailments were for females until I was in my 20's even now I still don't know much. I can sit here all day and talk about changes to the sex education system but that's not what this article is mainly about.
