Wooden Sail

Sail to the Unknown

One day, long ago, a little boy made a little sailing boat out of an old wooden shoe, using a piece of old cloth as a sail.

He carefully nailed in a long thin piece of wood as a mast and attached the cloth to it with a piece of string.

The little boy, who lived in Holland, had first intended to make a boat large enough to sit in, but his father had said that it would take up too much time and timber.

So, the little boy made a toy one. When he had finished it, he walked over to the beach. He knelt on a rock and gently set his boat in the water.

He watched it go a little way, before picking it up and wondering whether any of the other children of the world had ever seen a boat like his.

He looked at it again and decided that someone else would probably enjoy it more than he would.

The little boy hardly hesitated to set the boat in the water and push it out as far as he could.

The wind was quick to catch the sails, pushing it further and further out to sea.

The little boy watched it go, and it stayed upright all the way, as far as he could see.

For all we know, the shoe might still be floating around the world, from country to country, from child to child. As the boy set the boat out to sail, he didn’t realize that what he had made would have such an impact on the children around the world. As his boat went out to sail it ended up with a child who was in the country of Nigeria. The boy never realized that his boat would sail that far away. When the child received his boat, they picked it up and he was amazed at what he had received because in their country the children had never seen such a sight. This toy was such a delight to this child that he had to tell all the children in the village. They were so excited to have gotten such a beautiful gift that they had to share what they saw. This wooden toy boat was incredibly unique and thoughtful that they had to talk about it around town. The boat was ridiculously small and designed so profoundly that the children of the town wanted to know where it came from. The child that received it stated “I don’t really know where this gift came from, but it was a blessing to have received this boat because the children in the town were incredibly sad until this toy showed up. They were sad because they were not allowed to have played with toys until this special gift showed up. The child that had brought this gift forward was an heir to the throne of Nigeria and was not allowed to have played with toys until this artifact was found. In the town of Nigeria, the children’s years and years ago were not allowed the opportunity to play with toys until the boy from Holland sent out the sailboat. This boat was crafted by the boy’s father in Holland who was a King and once he died and his son sent out the boat it came to the children of Nigeria who once was found by the heir of the throne was made King. Once made King, the rules of Nigeria were changed because now that the sacred sailboat was found the children were happy that they were able to play with toys once again. Thanks to the new King for finding this boat, because now the town was able to play with things and have a wonderful childhood that they were not able to have until this boat was found.
